i couldn't have said it better. when you do the work you'll understand your car and be prepared when you have to troubleshoot it. then, the blame falls on no one else but your shoulders.

That is the nature of dealer. if they cannot find the problem, they will try to replace everything to fix one simple problem.

very likely the technican does not have certification in suspenion and brakes. maybe he just a engine oil change dude or A/C guy.

you suppose to take it to a suspension specialist anyway.

Yeah dealers suck at everything aside from actually selling the car...no offense to anyone. When I took my wife's Honda in for a TSB, I was waiting in the service waiting room and watched a sweet old lady get ripped for almost 300 bucks for a front brake pad swap and rotor turning on a 2000ish accord. SHeesh. I wanted to tell the lady "Ma'am, dont take this ass raping...I'll replace your pads and turn the rotors for 150". Even 150 is a raping! [/end rant]

similar situation with the Toyota dealership in my town, the said my entire wiring was screwed (when only my headlights would turn on and not the back parking lights when i turned the switch on) .. and said they could do all the work with labor for about 350 ...
turned out it was only a blown fuse, with the help of the SG guys here..

Hey QuickSEV6, at least tell the man what he typed wrong LOL ... I was going to make a comment about the "putted" and "tooked" but I don't want to start anything and I don't know if my boy DatSRBoi can take a joke hehe (no offense bro, but people pick on me all the time and I just play along, which is what QuickSEV6 was trying to do... I think) but aaaaaaaaaaaaanyway, I learned long time ago NOT to take my ride to the dealership because they don't know what the hell they are doing sometimes. After shaving the emblems of the car, I had to go to the dealership for a problem with the tranny and even though the BIG @SS TOYOTA sign is in the grill, they marked it down as an ACURA and almost turned it away for not being a Toyota LOL, what a bunch of clowns!

I'm Lucky

Postby JMSinMaryland » Thu May 25, 2006 3:10 pm

I found a kicka$$ Toyota service manager and 1 Toyota mechanic that I take my car to. She always lets me know what Toyota "recommends" and what I "need" at the time. She's always honored all the other dealer's coupons and not charged me for redundant hours, i.e. if the coolant needs to be flushed and I'm changing my water pump she wouldn't charge the labor for a coolant flush, etc. I also have one place that I take my cars for alignments, etc. Find a place that you trust and build rapport and repeat business. Jon.
