How good are sparkplug wires?

How much difference do sparkplug wires do? How can it effect your engine if its worn? I know so so about it but can someone detail me. I feel like my car is weak because of it. But not sure.

I can't really go into detail, but I asked JoeB about whether upgarading the wires was worth it...he said the toyota wires are actually pretty good, so I haven't touched them. Improvements would be marginal at best I think.

When in good condition, the Toyota wires are pretty good (there's really not that much of a performance gain to be seen by changing them)... If your wires are worn they can deteriorate performance HEAVILY... So don't swap your wires just to swap them, but they should definitely be changed about every 30,000 miles, along with spark plugs and distributor cap/rotor (when applicable).

There's definitely performance to be found by changing out old/bad wires, but go ahead and stick with the Toyota wires.

Same deal, change 'em every 30K or when you feel deterioration in performance (engine skipping, rough idle, hesitation in acceleration, etc...). You should do it all at once (see the last sentence in my last post).

If you have pitted wires, distro cap, rotor or plugs you can suffer the same performance deterioration. They are all regular maintenance items and each one individually (let alone all together) can have DRASTIC effects on your ride.
