Weird Tail light (bulb/electrical) issue...

Postby DrakkkarDarkbladE » Tue May 30, 2006 5:25 pm

Just wondering if anyone has had something like this before:

I am talking about the bulbs that have 2 filaments in them and work as both the tail light and the brakelight.

Anyway only the brake light works and the light that is supposed to be on all the time does not, this is on both the right and left tailights. All my other lights work, and its not the bulbs cause i have swapped them out.

Thanks in advance.

bus fuse

the fuses will look like little plastic rectangles. there will be 2 metal prongs connected by a skinny wire inside the plastic. if the skinny metal is melted/gone, your fuse is bad.

the fuse that you are looking for is located int he change holder in the left next to the steering wheel, pull it open and pop it out with little force, and ull find the fuse, i had the same problem with my car just a few weeks ago. i thought i as major electrical problem, just the fuse though. good luck.

I thought most of the fuses were in a box in the engine bay ?? But either way...just check them. :P

Yeah, it's kinda scattered; one in the glove compartment, and 2 or 3 in the engine bay (incl. one just for the ABS).

Ok, the fuse was dead so I replaced and the replacement got blown too. So there is something that just keeps blowing the fuse out.

you might have a "short" in the wire. the wire is grounding somewhere.

has the rear bumper been hit lately? a pinch might have created a short in the wire.

Actually this turned out to be faulty headlight bulbs, they were not being grounded properly and shorting out all that other stuff.

Figured all this out by myself so saved myself the time and money of going to a mechanic.
