no more automatic car wash!?!?!

i heard that after you lower the solara with springs and shocks, that it is actually to low to fit in the automatic car wash. is this true or what??

Depends on the Car Wash place, and how high the pull rail is.
I avoid the Car wash because they harm your aftermarket wheels.

I don't trust automatic car washes simply because of the fact they don't do a thorough job of cleaning. Plus the water that's used is recycled.

I was very desperate one time and still got through a Shell car wash with a trd kit and dropped on my car. it was very close though.

it fits through those brushfree carwashes that cost a fortune also.

How do you mean? I am trying to picture this. Are you talking that the guiding rail along the side could scratch them, or the chemical solutions? I'm getting my wheels today, and this has me freaked out.

No car wash is willin to take my ride after
I lowered it and put the body kit + 18".

They only offer hand car wash = $40,
so I gotta DIY.

I have the same gripes about touchless washes too. The rails are too high and pose a problem for lowered cars and without a doubt, they will scratch your rims. I've even seen them bend rims. Avoid them at all cost!

Luckily, new touchless car washes that are poping up around the city (Toronto, Canada) are actually rail-less too!! I ocassionally use these when I'm in a hurry. I still prefer good ol' handwashing though. Plus, it's cheaper

I use the touchless carwashes once in a while. No problem pulling in or leaving it. I know my last car wouldn't make through the shell car washes b/c of that stupid rail. I know when i get my body kit I would't be able to clear it. If you only have it dropped w/ some eibachs, you should be fine for now.

Yup, the rail will scratch your rims!

Thanks for the warning! New wheels + scratches would have really soured my mood.

<B>For Chi town:</b> I have had my car dropped with Intrax springs, which drop more than Eibachs, and have been through alot of the car washes here. Granted, I don't want to risk the wheels, so that is out now

are the touch free ones better than the regular car washes? my parents are paranoid about the cloth scartching the paint and only want me to use the touch-free ones... any ideas?

Well even the touch free arent truely touch free. At least around me, they still touch your paint.

the ones here are like high pressure water sprays. they really are touch-free. i would wash it myself but being its only 10 degress outside... yea you know how it is

from my experiences with touch free, they dont really clean the car all that great. :evil:

my favorite wash to go to is the Citgo. they use these super soft lamb skin cloths, and they use a ton of soap. i also like how they spray the undercarriage to get all the road salt and junk out from underneath the car. plus if u spring for the expensive wash, they use this Blue Corral wheel cleaner and makes your wheels like super clean and shiny!
