how do you remove the auto mirror from the glass?

Well, I'm definitely going to get an autodimming mirror for my Solara. We have on on our G35, and now I'm spoiled. Flipping it up and down on my Solara just won't do, anymore! As for those big ones, like the Broadway mirror, I just don't like the looks of them. I guess they're OK from a functional standpoint if you sit low in the seat and have to look up at them. For a tall person like me, they block too much of my forward vision. Plus, they make me feel like I'm back in SE Asia. It seems like every taxi in Bangkok has these giant rear view mirrors. When you sit in the back seat, all you see is a huge reflection of yourself.

I thought I would try it. If it's really that difficult, though, I guess I could pay to have it installed. How much would it cost? Since I'd already be paying $220-250 for the part, a big installation cost wouldn't make it very worthwhile.

apparently (i may be wrong here) some of the dash has to come off in order to wire it properly. you're probably looking at ~$175 in labor. but, like i said, i may be totally wrong.

Thanks for the info. I was figuring that I'd have to run the wiring inside the headliner and down the A piller, but I wasn't thinking parts of the dashboard would have to be removed. I'll have to reconsider this. If I find out anything more, I'll post. Thanks again.

It is very EASY to install the autodimming mirror. My friend and I both got a set for his ES and my Gen4. It took about 45 minutes total to do each car. Save yourself the money and DIY. The part that we got was PT732-33000, which then was about $100 shipped, no temperature, only compass. Here are the pictures and you'll see which panels need to be removed. It's similar for the Gen4 and Solara.

You have to get the hood scoop first, so I can drill a hole through it and install the temperature probe in there. :lol:

Then some flashing LED washer nozzles every time you brake. They're GGGGRICE!!! :lol:

Luc - as long as you're willing to do all that for Ryan, I want it on my car, too! Also, I want a scoop on my roof, as well as flashing LED on my exhaust tip. Oh, and a giant wing on the rear. Can you work me a deal?

Whoa...I didn't know I was taking orders... :lol:

...when I make it out there one day, I'm not going to bring a luggage of changeable clothes, but of tools from my garage.

I'll just have to make sure they don't exceed the 70-lb limit. I'd only install triple-decker wings. :wink:
