hidden reservoir...what's it for???

i just noticed that there's a hidden reservoir below my battery in the engine bay on the driver's side.

what. the hell. is that for??

the "mysterious" reservoir is located exactly where the filter would go if you were to do a cold air extention.

yea thats your intake resonator. its not all that much louder when its taken out but i took it out anyways. im assuming taking it out gives you much better airflow as well cause that stupid vollyball sized resonator cant suck in any air...

It's kind've like a factory cold air thing, it just collects more air and brings it into your airbox. If you take out your air filter you'll see that there's leaves and crap underneath there that have made their way in through this.

Ditto to all the posts about it being a resonator/silencer for the intake. Keeping it on or taking it off has no effect on performance (at least the butt dyno says so). Engine sounds throatier when you rev it, but quiet as stock at idle or while cruising. I have had mine off for about half a year, along with the smaller black resonator right after the MAF sensor and before the TB.

I took mine off my Gen 3 1MZFE. There was NO sound difference. Or it was that little that it's not noticeable.
