GReddy EVO 2 caused MPG drop???

GReddy EVO 2 caused MPG drop???

Postby DrakkkarDarkbladE » Mon Jun 26, 2006 6:54 am

I got the EVO2 exaust, and then my MPG dropped pretty bad, I also recently hit 60k miles so I changed my sparkplugs, but that did not help, I was expecting my MPG to drop but not this bad, it went down by like 25-30% is there something that I can do about this?

Modding the motor means giving more gas. Cars working more now so it needs alittle more gas. Specially if you put on a cat back, Your gaining power, but you also reduced the backpressure of the car so your having to gas it more.. Yada yada yada something like that. Im going to sleep haha. Nite you guys.

I do understand that, but should it drop so much, I was expecting it to drop but not by this much..

I have not even went WOT once yet, 99 percent of the time the engine is below 2400 or 2500 rpm.

dammm something is definately wrong... what are youre driving habits like? do you punch on the gas all the time to make ur exhaust rev up loud or something??

but it should stay fairly the same as your stock exhaust... at MOST it would change is like 1-2 miles mpg

Any CEL?

Would leaky gaskets cause this maybe? I dont know if that could cause it, but if you used the used gaskets I gave you, try replaceing the gaskets with new gaskets.

I did not use the old gaskets, the shop used their own new gaskets.

I also recently changed the spark-plugs. I don't know what this can be. Should I change the gas filter and the PCV valve. I doubt that this is because of bad spark-plug wires.

I drive normally, the engine is almost never above 2500 rpm.
