A/C Light Blinked at Me

Last weekend while on a drive in North Central California I experienced this same issue. The fan was blowing hot air when just a few minutes before I got out of the car it was blowing very cool air. I pushed the button several times and finally got it to work the cool air again. That was the first time I experienced that. It hasn't happened since returning home to SoCal so I guess everything is working fine now.

I read somewhere, I think it was google groups but not sure, and it might even be in the owners manual.. but when the clutch gets wet the A/C shuts down ungracefully and flipps the blinkety, blink. I got so use to it that I'd shut the A/C off if the parkway was flooded. If I drove over a puddle it was almost a given the light would blinky and the A/C shut down.
This was on the '96 camry. Haven't experienced it yet on the '06 Solara..
