Here is what happens when you are looking for a parking space and someone decides to floor it out of their parking spot. I almost got past but almost was not good enough.

He paid and it is getting fixed at the end of the month.

Damn you're really lucky! Most parking lot accidents are totally fukked up - and people deny liability after you've left the parking lot, with a he said/she said scenario.

My girlfriend had that happen recently (same exact spot on her Camry as you got nailed with) and luckily she had taken a couple shots with her camera phone on the scene and she got the business cards of two witnesses (Probably helped that she was a petite blonde in a skimpy outfit at teh time). The idiot still tried to tell his insurance company that it wasn't his fault and as soon as she said she had photos and statements from two witnesses, he backed-down.

Still though - on the other hand, with that big rear-end on the Solara, its hard to see backing out of a space. I always just creep out very s l o w l y and some clown still tries to jet by me because they can't wait a couple seconds more. So I'm thinking about installing some large air horns on the back of the car just for those special occasions.

You're lucky he's paying. Parking lot accidents almost always fall into no fault, and it would have been you and your insurance company paying if he didn't.
