here is some info from my brother that works at TRD USA in SO CAL...there will be no TRD line up for the new SOLARA...also he said that a solara was shown to them about a month ago and it does look almost exactly like the people on the forum are saying. first off the rear end is very much simliar to a SC430 but not as agressive or wide....second his opinion on the front was that it was over kill....he said they tried to keep the front from looking like the new camry and give it a more solo look but failed...he also mentioned there was no molding on the sides of the car and that it came with 16'' rims...the car is front wheel drive and is being produced at the TMMK facility where the old sienna was built...if u go out to Kentucky u can get a glimse of it...second when i asked when they were going to release photos of the car...he said they where keeping it all hush hush and that the car will be out by june...the reason its comming very early in the year as a 2004 model is because of a new sports car toyota is in the process of making...so they are releasing the solara first to get feed back on the engine and displacement of a 245 hp....if that engine fares well it will be the low end option for the new sports car from toyota....from what my brother told me on the phone he said that if anyone is a big toyota fan than 2004 will be the year for them....oh and he then made a side bar stating the new 350z is about to be blown the "f**K out of the water"...

Why is it when someone posts something about a possible new Toyota you seem to never belive them, it is like you think you are the only true and definitive source of all things Toyota. Again I am not trying to start trouble I just want to know.

I think Ryan is just skepticle (did I spell it right?) about anything said in the forum regarding possible releases because he doesn't want to get his hopes up and then be disappointed if the topics of the posts, in this case the Gen 2, does not meet those expectations.

(Key words: 'I think'. I don't want to put words in his mouth, but I remember him saying something like that to me a while back before going to the LA Auto Show)

This 2004 Solara 'hype' has been going on for a while now... everyone always seems to restart the posts. I think it's fun wondering how it will look, and how it will perform. So far, from the rumors, it has been promising. Lets keep this post alive so there isn't another topic started again in a few weeks

The reason why I asked that because there aren't that many people that work at TRD USA and I do know a few of them. Is that too much to ask? Why do you guys like to jump to conclusions...because there is no where in my post that indicated I doubted his info or wherever. No where did I say I know everything Toyota nor did I say I did. You guys need to stop looking in between the lines. PM me next time if you have concerns.

Sweet! Maybe I'll head on down there, I'm only 1- 1 1/2 hrs from NYC.

If what everybody's saying is true about it looking similar to an SC430, than I'm very excited. My father's summer car is a 2002 SC430 in silver (his regular car is a 2003 4Runner Limited V8 4WD, also silver) and that thing looks sweet!

This new Solara has a good potential of being my next ride (replacing my Camry), so I hope it turns out to be a winner.

I can't wait!

Hey you all I will not give my real name or even my usual name on these forums but I can tell you that some of your messages have had links and inserts of info I have given on the new Solara. But I will give you 100% fact about Hp which is gonna be 245. I also can tell you that the Solara does not go in full production until the last week of July. Yes there will be a few cars floating around because we are building 3 of them a day monday - thrusday. I will also say that if anyone tells you different HP numbers then they are lying to you. Also the info on the sport shift is correct. As fothe looks of the rear I would claim that it looks more like the 350z from the rear than any other car. You also will have GPS option. I am gonna tell you all thaqt this car is very hot. Builder

geeezzz these guys with all their frakin' secrets and stuff "if i told u, then i'd have to kill ya!" i would bet the hp numbers will change before final release, they always do when they are fine tuning the final product.

If the poster above is "James", he's reliable. He was right on in his description of the Gen 5 Camry. Months before it's release.

From what I've heard, the prototypes always have more hp than the final release (the only exception was seen in the Porsche Carrera GT, which had more hp than intended) but 245 sounds nice
