For my birthday my parents have offered to fix the tinting on my car. its bubbling up in the back and is illegal in our state apparently. should i go for super dark, or leave it like it is?

ive had 20 percent on for about 2 weeks now, i really like it. but up here in northern va im kinda scared of the cops, so sometimes i find myself rolling down half way if not all the way. but there really isnt much of a difference in 35 to 20 when looking from the outside, but its deff a lot dark looking from the inside.

At least 20, maybe just black, not that metalic...

yup, to his house, he did a pretty good job, the dot matrix really does suck though. One side is really good, but the other is ok, but it all looks pretty decent for 100. and lifetime, maybe ill go back and get it redone, but really dont mind right now. thanks for the reference!

FYI: Here's the tint laws for Kentucky.

Kentucky Tint Law Enacted: 1994

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN KENTUCKY?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Kentucky, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the film only.
Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side Windows: Must allow more than 35% of light in.
Back Side Windows: Must allow more than 18% of light in.
Rear Window: Must allow more than 18% of light in.

HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN KENTUCKY?

Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.
Front Side Windows: Must not be more than 25% reflective.
Back Side Windows: Must not be more than 25% reflective.

OTHER KENTUCKY RULES AND REGULATIONS

Restricted Colors: No colors of tint are explicitly banned.
Side Mirrors: No restrictions.
Certificate Requirements: Manufacturers of film need to certify the film they sell in the state. Ask your dealer if they are using ceritified film.
Sticker Requirements: The sticker to identify legal tinting is required on the inside of the driver’s side doorjamb.

20 in the back

better then VA

50 in the front
35 in the back

if you want a rough idea of how that will look like, look for solow1605 and stocksolara's car domain pages. both have 5 in the rear and 20 in the front.

good luck
