rim protectors only help your rim from being damaged when the tire rubs a curb. the tire rubs the curb and not the rim. rim protectors do not help when a car hits potholes or railroad tracks.

basically, if you care about your rims, go with whatever the thickest tire you can get away with without looking stupid! more rubber means greater impact absorbtion. personally i've got 215/50/17 on my SSR rims. yeah, that's a lot of tire, but i paid a lot for the rims and NJ roads suck big time!

ya duh! i got those rims and tires before i was introduced to solaraguy.com!!! of course i didnt know what i was doing! now my new rims are gonna 235/40/19...with racing hart c5's is THAT ok? thanx! L8r moe :evilbat:
