Talk about aftermarket Toyota Solara Gen 1-1.5 upgrades.

What O2 sensor are you using with JPP headers?

What O2 sensor are you using with JPP headers?

As I noted in another post, I'm getting codes po135 and po155. I just realized that I'm running Denso air/fuel sensors and not O2 sensors. I didn't know there was a difference, but I guess there is  . When UPFD put my headers in, they put in the air/fuel sensors. They also told me that the stock sensors wouldn't work because the wires were too short.

So, I guess by changing these out for the O2 sensors should remove my codes, correct?

Any brand and part #'s anyone can supply me with?
I really want to dyno my car!!!!

Thanks,
Larry

Are you talking about a wideband for a/f readings or just a regular O2 sensor?

I'm talking about the regular front and rear O2 sensors.

I have a 2001 Solara, built in October 2000, and I use the 2 A/F sensors. My toyota dealer/mechanic said that Solaras before the time mine was built likely us O2 sensors.

I think that getting the right sensors, in your case O2 sensors, should solve your problem. I say that because I discussed this issue with Gadget who makes the distinction that you have to use the right sensor, O2 sensor or the A/F sensor, in order to properly tune.

Try sparkplugs.com, which is where I found the Denso A/F sensors. Larry are your A/F sensors Denso part #"234-9021"?

Well, I'm not sure, all I know is that they are universal DENSO air/fuel sensors for CALI and they did cost me about $170 each. I guess part #"234-9021" where only for '02/'03 with auto tranny. I may have this one and that maybe my problem.
When I checked these out on other sites, I noticed sometimes they list for manual or auto. This site doesn't, so I'm not sure if this matters or not.

From what I gathered on sparkplugs.com it says that I use air/fuel sensors for the front and O2 in the rear. I entered in 2000 Solara. From what it looks like only non-cali vehicles use the O2 sensors.
This is what it lists:
Denso  AIR/FUEL SENSOR  234-9007  234-9007  FRONT LEFT
California $162.05

Denso  AIR/FUEL SENSOR  234-9009  234-9009  FRONT RIGHT
California $162.05

Denso  OE identical O2 sensor  234-4137  234-4137  REAR $95.66

I guess I need to get -9007 for bank 1 sensor 1 and -4137 for the rear?
I'm just worried if I'll run into the problem UPFD did with the wire not being long enough.

I would recommend asking Gadget at URDUSA.com. I told him my situation and he says I had to get that particular A/F sensor. Just give him the date your car was made (look on the driver door tag) and he should be able to give you the part number.
