NEW WHEELS

NEW WHEELS

Postby sbsolara84 » Sat Aug 19, 2006 7:35 pm

I'm looking at some new wheels for my 01 solara:
Current set up: lowered on Eibachs, trd lip kit, trd sway, tokico struts, running on 18" w/45 offset wheel with 225/40/18 kumho mx.

I need your help on deciding which wheels to get and also what "OFFSET." (i'll prob. get spacers for the rear)

i've narrowed it down to these below:

Racing Hart CR: (links to some pics)

5zigen GN+ pro racer: (links to some pics)

I'm leaning towards the 5zigens 18 X 7.5 with a +43 offset and a pair of 15mm spacers in the back.

Thank you for your opinions.

The ones in the 3rd link look better, IMO. Why do they have to put writing on them?

which racing harts do you want? the first ones are much more expensive then the second. if i was you i'd look at volks. theyre far better than racing harts which have lost any kind of quality they once had.
the 5zigens are ok. how much are you trying to spend?

"which racing harts do you want?"

Listed above is the Racing Hart's CR

They're all kinda expensive, but the CR's aren't that bad.
But yes i agree; RHs are over played.

i'll prob. get the 5zigen; they're about 300-400 per wheel depending on where you look.

Tires

Postby JMSinMaryland » Mon Aug 21, 2006 2:19 pm

You'll be safe BUT your selection of tires is reduced and prices are higher than a 225/40 18. I've run 18x7.5/45mm with 225/40 18 on my 01 Solara and 99 Camry, both with TRD suspension and no problems. I suggest getting the Yokohama Avid H4's in the 225/40 18. Jon.

I've been running the same set up for a while now, except I have Tokico struts, and my rear wheels are rubbing against my struts.

It's rubbing so bad that there are marks on the struts, and you can feel and see that the wheel's edge has been shaved.

that's y i'm gonna get +43mm offset with 10mm spacers for the back.

Any Pics?

What makes Volks so expensive and so better than other brands?
I know it's better quality, but details....
