Strut Mounts - KYB or TOKICO?

Strut Mounts - KYB or TOKICO?

Postby anttarz » Tue Aug 22, 2006 2:27 pm

I got new TRD (Bilstien) struts and TRD (Eibach) springs thanks to solaraguy members. I cant decide whether to get KYB or Tokico strut mounts. I originally thought of getting Toyota oem mounts but they quoted me at $290 w/ a dealer courtesy discount. I cant even remember if that included bearings. Ive found KYB and Tokico for around 200. I've heard cases with different toyotas where the KYB rear mounts didnt match stock and caused some issues. Any suggestions?

yea they do...
KYB part #SM5180, SM5179, SM5175
Tokico part #HK38017, HK38018, HK38041

They are messed up, i can hear my current struts rattle when i hit bumps, especially the front left. A mechanic i know told me they need to be replaced, plus it cant hurt the suspension.

the problem you are having right now is a problem many of us are getting from the bilstein struts sold to us by krawzyazn.

from what i have been hearing, what you need to do is a get a rubber bushing that will fit in between the top of the strut mount and the strut mount itself. hope this helps, alot of us are in the same boat. you wont need new strut mounts, believe me.

hopefully when krawzyan finds out the TRD part that stops the rattling, we will all be saved, until then, well see.

The noise is coming from my stock suspension, i havent installed the new TRD one yet. The rubber bushing you are refering to is the "Spring Upper Seat" or the Bearing?

I'm surprised that Kyb and Tokico make strut mounts.

Where can you find the Spring Upper seat?? My friend installed the TRD struts and is getting the rattle. Like Mark mentioned above allot of ppls are having this problem and are looking for a solution. Any help or links to the bushings will be helpful to others.

I am trying to help out my friend and others on the forum so any knowlegde on a resolution is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Regards,
Kenny
