the answer is search cause its been discussed over and over. the cpe's cost is justified, dyno proven gains. you gotta pay to play. get the cpe. injen doesnt touch it, i've used everything.

Vinnie did you read at least 1 word of this web page ???
http://www.cp-e.com/2017.html

The Injen kit is
- 3" pipe
- red air filter cone

The CP-e kit is
- 3.5" pipe
- blue air filter cone
- AFC (little black box with a chip in...)

The AFC is the thing you can get tuneable or not tuneable.

Tuneable version
===========
On the black box with a chip in (AFC)...you'll have 2 connectors
- 1 larger is to plus the wire harness to the car
- 1 smaller is to plug your computer on the AFC
- The AFC is preseted with the tested data for your Solara (you don't need to touch it until you make a big change on your engine supercharger, headers...you know...)
- If so...you will be able to go on a dyno...put the AFR sensor in your exhaust and then tune it again to get the more of the power available.

Non-Tuneable version
===========
On the black box with a chip in (AFC)...you'll have 1 connector
- 1 larger is to plus the wire harness to the car
- The AFC is preseted with the tested data for your Solara.

I don't believe the TRD muffler can produce 10 horsepower either. But the CP-E has been tested that it raises the horsepower number in the 3.3L Solara by 15.

Couldn't similiar gains be earned from buying an Injen CAI and then an apexi SAFC, or is this better?

I'm sure that you would get similar result as wel! :)
Almost sure tho that Injen+SAFCII would be more costly because of the dyno tuning time to set everything right...on the conter part, CP-e come already preset with the Solara data (for Gen1, 1.5 or 2...2.5 not yet)

Seabas, I already told him to PM you or Down2thec if he had specific questions. From what I read, you guys are the most passionate about this topic. I think he's just a new guy, not knowing forum etiquette.

intake & exhaust will net you maybe 5-8hp. I would get the injen w/ cold air extention. I would rather have my engine sucking in cold air rather than hot air from the engine bay, heat soak is a biatch

$500 for a few hp isn't worth it.
