The only point most of us are making is that it IS possible. Not that it is a good idea. There is some chance that a decent swap can be done for $1500, just like in the Maximas. But retards like you would rather call names. I consider the VQ35DE swap into our '97 Maxima a good deal for when the day comes that our 200K+ miles VQ30 bites the dust. If I ever keep the Camry this long, I'd prefer the option of a lower mile, higher performance cost effective solution.

The Solara has a big engine bay, what if you could put a crate engine in it? a small block V-8? I never seen it done.

And to MandarinSolara, you should show SG members some respect, ever since you got that HOMO you been acting like a Jackass.

$5-6K for 14s.. what are you talking about... The Supercharger (@ stock boost mind you) for the 1MZ alone bumps you into the 14s... I don't know who paid full price for theirs but I got mine for $1400

well, sure you can swap any engine into any car as long as you have resources. i never said it is impossible but it just requires more custom fabrications. unlike other nissan or honda, pretty much just bolts right on for different motors.

but my impression is those uncommon swap is not cost effective. unless you have extensive knowledge and resource, it is probably not a good choice. i seen many incomplete projects and therefore i must stress about this issue. it is a very big committment and stress.

btw
there are also so unique swaps such as a LS1 in IS300,

to made in china,
Toyota's parts are often more model specific and the ECU is known with complicated programing. That is the reason you never seen a remap toyota ecu in the market. Often people also ran into problem in their piggyback computer (ex. E-mange) or standalone computer (ex. AEM) whch had a hard time to work with their toyotas. They are not impossible to sucess, some people could get it done correctly but i also seen many fail cases. i often seen many tuners has the reaction like "stuff i can get the thing to work with other japanese cars but i cannot get it to work with the toyota.". Hey maybe you encountered many people had different stroies, maybe those tuners i hang out with are retard?

and to mandriansolara,
you spend $5k swap on a civic is quite fast, but you are just like other civics on the street nothing make you special. and my guess is a crx with same mod will still kick your assssss. In additon, unfortunately the car just always seen by people as a econobox or kid's car.

if you can spend $5k swap on solara and made it reasonablely sucessful, you made a great history

Turbosolara, I hear ya. The lucky thing for Max's and Hondas in general is that one series of engine bridged many different generations of cars together. The B series showed up in late 89, and didn't go off market until '01. The VQ showed up in the mid 90's, and is still with us. I just don't know much about Toyota's. I did a turbo B20Z in my Integra, and I'll tell ya, with all the online info, it was super easy to do. And, the Max can be easily swapped also.

Actually, I really like my 1MZ, it is super fuel efficient, I always get at least 25MPG even in bad traffic, and the power with the 5speed is quite decent. And it's quiet. If my car ever dies from high mileage, I will swap out to a newer motor. But I am not in any way gonna try it while the car doesn't need it.

what the heck are you talking about?

If you are talking about a fast honda, who cares?? I owned one. my coworker has 2 fast hondas, his buddies have fast hondas, they know people that know people that know people. I know someone that knows someone that has a fast SOHC also. big deal.

and I don't think anyone has ever talked about a Solara whooping up on anything in this thread.
