anyone know of a place where you can see the various darkness (percents) of tint?

I dont know much about tints, but I read posts about 5% and 25% etc... I was just wondering if there was a website that showed how it looks on cars.

(Im trying to find a tint% that isnt dark but isnt too light. Any suggestions, if you dont know a website?)

It's best to go to a tinting shop like Mr. Tint to check it out. Pictures won't help you. You could just go to a tinting place and get a quote. Just window shop in the real world. I wouldn't recommend checking it online.

It depends on where you are... most tint shops are non-franchise (in my area anyhow)

well..to give you an idea (sure you already know, but just in case)
..the lower the % the darker the tint it.

35% isn't really, really dark, but respectable. You can still see in though if you get up close.

22% isn't super dark, but you can't really see in unless you try.

5% seeing in from the outside?? forgetaboutit! it would probably work very well as a mirror though for someone trying to look in from the outside.

Yea, I agree that it would probably be better to just go to a tint shop myself.

Missay.. that was pretty helpful. At least I have an idea of a % when I go to a shop.. Thanks... and everyone thanks also..

I have Solargard 5% in the rear, and 50% in the front. I'm gonna redo the front to either 35% or 20% before the summer.

Yeah, it looks perfect. Just enough so you know its there, but not enough so the cops target you.

well, youre going to notice a difference
it depends how dark you go, aroun 20-30 itll be kinda like looking through sunglasses, it just dims everything really
around 5% im sure itd be hard to see out, well, at night anyways!

Yeah it's a little difficult at first but you get used to it. Really helps when people high beam you or if their headlights give off alot of glare.

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to tinting but I want to have it done since my car will be out all day, everyday, this summer.

If I get it done at a reputable shop will I ever have to worry about it bubbling or maybe tearing off? Also, when you guys are talking about tinting the front are you refering to the windshield as well? Bear with me...like I said I'm pretty ignorant on this subject :-? And are there any other concerns I should have before I think about doing this? I have the auto dimming mirror but if I can keep out the heat and have it look good then I won't mind loosing that feature.

thanks-
Doug

any reputable shop will offer a lifetime warranty, so if anything does go wrong (which it probably wont) theyll fix it free
here its illegal to tint the windshield, and i think most other places too (so probably talking about the front windows)
i have a dimming mirror, and keep it on anyways
