I was wondering if there is a rwd tranny that would bolt up to the 1mzfe?
Since my car is totalled, thinking of putting the engine in the next car...

After some more searching, some tacomas and pickups were made with the 1mzfe. However, it's a truck tranny with truck gear ratios. Would that make a 1mz swap into an AE86 not feasible?

Hey, what happened to your car man??

Anyways, if you feel that Tacoma trannies are too tall, maybe you could get a shorter rear end too offset that.

You need any parts?

Rear end meaning the rear diff? I dunno too much at all about those and aftermarket or modification of gear ratios. You should stop by and check out the damage. I'm in Northgate.

No 1MZ in the AE86. The problem is the 1MZ mounts transversely, and wont work a driveshaft that is required with a traditional Front engine/rear wheel drive platform.

The only RWD platform that would work with the 1MZ is the old MR2, since the engine is mounted midship, so it would also be mounted transversely for RWD, BUT it wouldnt be direct bolton to the existing tranny.

if you use a rwd tranny then you dont have to mount it transversely.

find a tranny or find a way to make one fit, then its just like every other swap, make motor mounts, a transmission crossmember, and a custom driveshaft. modify the harness to fit, plumb a fuel line, get headers made(the biggest ouch) and your done! i think it would be cool as hel

Crap I forgot about the headers. Gorramn thats gonna suck. Still scoping out transmission possiblities, don't really like the idea of a truck tranny at all.
