regular is fine.

I run Premium all the time, in my particular experience, my V6 with 5 speed gets about 500 miles to a tank with Premium, and about 400 to a tank on Regular. So, actually the Premium is probably cheaper overall in my car, but even if it wasn't I still like the fact it goes so long on one tank.

BTW, the car will run fine on whatever grade you choose, I think with the V6 though, the ECU can tune in the car more efficiently using premium.

91 on all my cars. High compressions engines always need higher octane. Plus it'll burn cleaner. Remember you get what you pay for in terms of quality.

Amen !

I used to get 91 or 94 octane...
US fuel is so cheap...if I do the conversion in US gal I would pay
Knowing that...
US gal = 3.8 liters
CAD/USD = 0.9

3.27USD$/gal 87
3.83USD$/gal 94

super all the way, it lasts longer because of the higher octane, the more octane = more bang , and more bang means less fuel to do the same job. Bang for your Buck.

I don't know if it'll work on all cars. Try it on yours, then do the math. I am sure you'll get a few more miles on a tank, then you can see if the cost savings is worth it. Remember, Premium in the V6 will generate a little more power too....if that's worth anything to you.

Also, this isn't true for all cars. Our 97 Max SE is a AT, and it pretty much gets 23-24MPG in city whether we use 87 or 91. However, the engine pings a bit (almost 200K miles, she's tired) more on lower octanes when loaded up, so we try and keep at least 89 in that car...just depends on gas prices and my mood.

well if you have high compression and you put lower grade of fuel, it will cause detonation in which result retarded timing = run rich = less power. so it will decrease fuel efficiency.

but how high is high compression? i am not too sure but i think 10:1 is definately consider as high compression. just try different fuel on your motor and see what it likes.

i run 91 up here in Canada, and call me "Rainman," but i never let the tank go below 1/4 remaining. I consistantly see 600KM/ tank of 91 octane. (Of course that being said, i have never tried a lower grade. Owners manual recommended 91 so it gets 91. Some staunchy guy in a white lab ccoat with more education than me came up with it. I figure it was for some reason i don't know, but i will trust him anyways)

running 91 octane on the 2GR. They should consider bringing 93 octane back.

anyone looking forward to pumping E85 gas in your tanks in about 20 years?
