problem with clear corners

I have the clear corners from proparts and after I installed it, there is a major gap on the corner closest to the battery. The gap is not noticeable up close but from a distance looks good.

My question is that if water gets into that gap (ie: rain, carwash, etc) is there a possibility of damage to the inside, engine or any wirings, etc...?

Also, is there a way to seal the gap with silicon or something? Probably is, but what would be a good suggestion that wouldnt ruin the paint and would not look so tacky?

use clear silicone, or black to seal the gap. black may be a better choice as it will look like the rubber surround on the clear corner

I guess the gap isnt noticeable unless you point it out... then people go, "oh yea"... I guess I'll try sealing around and see how it looks...

Was I the only person that had the corner gap problem? Just curious... cause I wonder what everyone else did. Probably just left it as it was?

I'm thinking maybe you didn't push it in all the way..i had a lotta problems installing my clear corners b/c one of them was hit in a parking lot so it messed up the headlight casing.

You might wanna double check how you have em put in. one big problem I had, which was just sheer stupidity, was getting them to fit. I realized that you have to get those metal things that stick out of the light to slide into the space provided, if you know what i mean.

When I didn't have those metal pieces in the right spot, I had the gap, but once I had them in it fit almost perfectly. Not as nicely as the OEM, but good enough.

I pushed it in good... yet there still is a gap. Maybe I just notice it so much, haha...

Where did you get your clear corners?

This is my gap. Is that normal? Trust me, Ive tried sliding it in further and pushing it, but no go... Should I contact proparts to replace these parts?

The other corner side isnt as bad and went in much easier, so I dont know whats up with this side..

The gap doesn't look that bad. Thats how mine looks. Except i made the mistake of putting them on w/o sealing them . Now i have condensation.

That gap doesn't look good at all in my books. It looks like the fit and finish that Fords are famous for.

Silicon would just make it look worse, I'd send them back with that picture to show them that they just don't fit properly.

you positive it's slid in all the way? it looks just like mine did when i didn't have it slid in at the right angle. it wasn't that i didnt have it all the way in, but that i didn't have those metal hooks hooked in quite the right way.

the only other explanation i can think of is that they're proarts clear corners that don't fit as well as the euro clear ones.

the reason i think you're doing the same thing i did, is b/c the light looks raised. if you look on the bottom you can see into under the hood. if they didn't fit then i would think you would just have a few gaps towards the back. the light looks "lifted" though.

hummm..try taking them out again and look at the back. you should see 2 metal hooks. when you slide the light in from the front of the car towards the rear, pay attention to the metal hooks sliding into place like an anchor.

actually..really really easy way to tell if it's the light or if you just have them in wrong is how tight they are. If it's in the right way, it shouldn't budge, even w/out the screw in (i know for a fact since one of mine doesn't have a screw :oops:

gotta luv twist-ties). If it's in tight, but seems like it would pop out w/ a good pothole, it probably isn't in at the right angle.

did you put in the light sorta like you were parallel parking it in the space where the clear corner goes? :wink:

I tried removing it and putting it back on. Same thing. It just does not want to go in properly. I can get my OEM corners in easily and it holds. Im going to return the defective item. Hopefully I can get my money back. I put my orginal corners back.... I LIKE THEM BETTER!? Damn aftermarket quality... lol

Problem Solved.

I called them and said it didnt want to fit in properly and showed them the picture. Well, all I had to do is shave off a part of the inside... kind of hard to explain... underneath the hook like thing, theres a part that had to be shortened...

Ahh... I dont think that makes any sense, but what matters is that it fits properly (much much better) now... Gap isnt as noticeable..

sidenote: I also put in Silverstar headlights and didnt really see much of a difference. After I got in and drove around (during the night of course), you can see that it IS much brighter. Im very much pleased with the lights. Im tempted to change my FOGS nows, but dont know what I should change it too...

hey I had a prob wit the clear corners too!! aRgGhHh... it bugged me... but when i thot about it, all i had to do was file down a part of it...

standing from the front of the car, the hook that is farthest from me has a little piece inside that i filed down. now it fits perfect!! WOO HOO!

But that other gap you have underneath, i think its normal?? I have it too.. wut can you say about "aftermarket"?? *shrugz*

at least it looks better than the stalk! hate the damm reflectors! its hella UGLY!

Looks better than "STOCK"?All depends on who you ask if it's ugly or not. Clear corners are played out. Have been for a while already.
