Can a Solara V6 sound like a 350Z or G35?

Postby solaratony » Mon Sep 18, 2006 6:41 pm

Hey, I was just wondering if it is possible for a Gen. 1 SLE V6 to sound similar to the 350Z and G35?, cause I love the way they sound. I would like to get an exhaust for my car(course I gotta get a new job first!!!), but I don't want to be too loud and buzzy or obnoxious. Any ideas?? I would also love to hear some sound clips if possible. Thanks!!!!

Nissan spent alot of time and money developing the sound of those cars. I believe the basic hardware you would need to even come close would be true dual from the headers to a H or X pipe, dual cats, dual resonators and dual mufflers. Oh yeah, it wouldn't hurt to have a VQ35DE under your hood either. You'd spend alot of money and time swapping exhaust parts to try and get that sound. Then your car would technically be heavier...and there is no guarantee that our 1MZ could ever make those sounds anyway. The design of the engine and its operating characteristics have alot to do with the final sound also.

Good luck, if you succeed let me know what it took, I'd like that sound too.

Heres the smart students recipe

make a recording of a G35 and play it on your car stereo, it would cost you 1 cdr, and thet time to find a G35 and chase it with a recording device.

You can't! Same reason a Honda or Kawi will NEVER sound like a Harley! ;)

Yeah anythi'n that comes close to a G35 or 350Z exhaust tone, is the Greddy Evo exhaust, some people say it sounds like that.
But i don't think so.
It a "hmmmm" -in' tone too it.
But when you rev the car in park or netural, to about 3000 RPM's and let off the gas quick you can hear it back-fire i think.
It a barbble noise when you rev it quick at about 3000 RPM.
Which i love.
