Fuel Filter Question.

Fuel Filter Question.

Postby Midias » Thu Sep 28, 2006 4:20 pm

Ok I have tried on many occasions to get my fuel filter off NO go and the nut has stripped tried vice grips ect and so on. What I want to know is can I cut it off the bottom and replace the nut with a new farrel and such and just have it sit a little lower. If so can I get the nut at any autoparts store.

i am wondering if you can replace the nuts on the fuel line, or you have to replace the entire the fuel line.
i took a 14mm flare wrench for lower smaller nut, and 17mm flare wrench for the larger nuts on the fuel filter, and the nuts came loose pretty easily without stripping, maybe i was just lucky.

Midias, im not sure if you want to cut it. I mean if you decide to im sure you can put a new nut. Youll have to create an edge at the end of the pipe that will prevent the nut from coming off the line. So yes im sure it can be done. I say make some room get the vice grips and clamp them on reallly tight and give it one more shot.
