Eibach Springs and Tokico Shocks

[WTF??]

Im pretty sure most of you out there have this combo... got a couple questions on it before I consider...


Hows the handling?
Hows the ride? still comfy? bouncy?
How much maintenance?
How much of a drop do the springs give you?
Is it too low? scrapes?

Most important... know any good deals? im asuming ebay

Please let me know your opinions...

eibach and tokiko set up is the preferred set up here. this has also been discussed many a times already. you can also use the search button to help answer your questions.

in a nutshell:

eibach/tokiko gives a good ride that's still comfy, and delivers performance as well, in terms of better handling. tokiko's are not as stiff as other struts such as bilstien (sp?). and the eibach's will give you a 1.6 drop. no maintenence as far as i know of....

also, there still that group buy on the struts: $324....hurry up and get in on that. you will NEVER find a better deal.

Way better than stock.

With any upgraded performance spring/strut combo, you sacrifice comfort for performance. The ride is very compliant even with everyday driving. You won't get a bouncy ride with this setup unless you 1) go with cut springs, 2) have worn out struts or 3) ride on ground controls.

How much maintenance?
There isn't any. You just have to replace the struts when they are at the of their service life. Meaning, when the struts are worn out, you will know it when the car handles sloppy.

How much of a drop do the springs give you?
Is it too low? scrapes?
1.6" is the drop. It's too high for some, it's perfect for most. As with ANY lowered car, it will scrape on certain angles.

I can attest to everything said here...it's a great combo. It makes such a big difference, especially in cornering and turning around tight corners such as curbs at stop lights. I even have snow tires on right now and the difference is substantial. I'd say go for it! Oh yeah...not to mention it makes the car look much, much, better.

Would it be a problem if I put in the springs first and wait for the shocks later?? Or should I wait to put both in at the same time? seems it would be more recommended so they can settle in with one another ryte?

shocks going to put me in the hole about $350+installation im thinking... thats why Im askin

i dont think it really matter, as long as you dont wait too long for the struts (youll just wear your OEM ones faster)
but you will save on installation if you do both at the same time

you'll save a lot on installation b/c the springs will have to be removed in order to install the shocks. basically you'd be paying installation twice. just wait and do it right the first time. might as well save up and do the RSB at the same time too. me and Yanks both did it that way, and i dunno bout him, but i'm glad i got it over with all in one shot.

Yeah I was expecting that kinda answer, but just wanna be sure... my fingers are itchin to get the springs/shocks, but just imagining the hundreds of scrapes imma go through! I havent dropped my car yet and I scraped bad last nyte pullin out! I even did the whole "drive sideways out of the lot" arghh

Unfortunately, that's the biggest drawback if you have a lowered car...is scraping up your exhaust and piping.

Is it just me or does the stock exhaust hang very low. I've seen a lot of solaras and camrys from the back and they look like they are sagging. Also the apexi seems to hang pretty low.

Yeah, it seems like the stock piping, before it gets to the muffler, hangs pretty low on Camrys and Solaras. On the Apexi, the cannister is pretty big, so it provides less ground clearance. I never felt that the piping hung that low, but maybe that's because the muffler is so big!
