new to performance for solara

Postby redsand02005 » Sat Oct 07, 2006 11:28 pm

I just bought a 2000 solara se V6 5spd with 65k miles. lets just say im in love lol. I am very new to solara and its performance parts. My plans for it are ngk wires and spark plugs, injen intake with cold air extension, evo 2 exhaust, short shifter and some other little things. My question is where is the best place to buy solara performance parts? Does TRD make a performance chip for solara? Where can i buy a y pipe? THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!!

those are all great mods you have in mind. but if i were you... start with the short shift, then get suspension or vice versa.. probably suspension first, if you dont do it now, itll take you a while to get it later.. like me haha. but those are your best bang for the buck. imo, the very best place to shop for our cars is on this forumm and like runner said, search it. have fun.. let me know when you have your part out.. what?? haha

Actually I wouldnt do suspension first. Maybe stiffer bushings and a rear anti sway bar to start out with, but dont mess with dampers or springs yet. Try to get to learn the car in its stock form first. Not sure if they do autox events where you're at this time of year, but go to some of those to improve your driving, then start messing with the suspension. Maybe do wheels/tires first and some brakes stuff. Sounds like some good plans for the car though.

I agree, TRD Rear Sway Bar first.

The Solara with the rear sway bar alone is already good enough.

Welcome to the board. :D

Welcome :D

If you search, you'll find Dat is having some better flowing y-pipes made. Also, there's no chip that'll really work with the Solara, so you can forget about that. Find the supercharger, that'll be your best performance enhancement!

why learn to feel your car stock just to change it once you do? cars ugly when it not lowered anyways ( just my opinion).

Welcome to the board. The TRD short shifter and RSB are good parts and straight forward DIY install. I have no idea who sells them new at this point.

No TRD chip or aftermarket chip for that matter. SAFCII works resonably well, but probably isn't neccessary unless you are FI or plan to go that route.

IMO, panel filter is good enough.
