Seat track bolts

Seat track bolts

Postby aleath » Wed Apr 09, 2003 6:10 pm

A few months ago I had a creaking noise coming from my drivers seat whenever I'd lean back in it. I took it to the dealer and they torqued a bolt on the seat track, problem solved. The noise is back again and I've gone around the seat track torquing each bolt and then trying the seat to see if it still squeaked -- it does. I didn't get over 40ft-lbs of torque, but I'm sure it takes a much higher torque amount. Anyone know what the proper torque is for these bolts, or have any ideas what to do to keep the noise from coming back?

I think there was a TSB about the seats rocking when "locked in."

Wasn't that TSB just for 2000 and before Solaras? I thought they put a new seat track assembly on 2002s

We should bring it up to steve. Any one willing to help in writing some tutorials. The FAQ pretty much failed, but i do think that there is a lot of potential for DIY section.

Still creaking

Postby Guest » Thu Apr 10, 2003 4:34 pm

I went around the seat track, loosened all four bolts, and retightened each one to 27 ft lbs. The creaking was gone at first, but after sitting pushing back in the seat about five times it came back. I went around to each bolt again and made sure each was at 27ft lbs. I'm going to check the bolts I can read later on, but does anyone have any ideas what else it could be? It creaks whenever I go to sit in the seat and if I push back in the seat a bit.. driving me nuts

Thanks a lot for the diagram Dav, much appreciated!
