Solara in winter...?

Why risk your car or your health/life, get some winter tires. I had them on my talon and that thing was as sure footed as a mountain goat (being awd helped too). I never got any for my corolla, but then again i run 155/80r13s in the winter so they cut through snow pretty easily and it did fine.

Being from wisconsin, I've had my share of winters. Only time i had real problems was when we had like 18" of snow fall and the plow buried my car. The wheels/brakes were NOT happy after literally getting buried. Stock tires were good enough for me.

I never really felt like i was in any danger of losing control. If drive like a moron, a 4x4 or even snow tires aren't going to keep you from going in the ditch.

Then again, i don't drive with the mentality of "snow is soft... it'll cushion the impact." ;)

-two (2) new wipers for winter
-one (1) new battery for winter

Well, I got my hands on a set of Pirreli Winter Snowsport tires. Anyone ever use these?
Also, the Michelin tires I got with my car are 205/60/16, is this the stock tire size?
Thanks

205-60-16 is the stock size for gen 1-1.5 16" rims.

If they're MXV4s i suggest losing them once sumer hits: I had 'em on my car and thought they sucked.

My all seasons have terrible traction in snow and we get a ton in buffalo, but sliding around is fun...just gotta take it slow. On a whole tho, the solara handles good in it.

Mine handles great. It's a 99 SLE. Actually I came to this site looking for info on tire sizing. I'm looking to get a set of Winters and buy new rims in the fall. What is the smallest tire I can put on this car, stock is a 205\60R16( as you all know I'm sure)? I think I can go to a 195 but I'm lost when it comes to this stuff.
