hey all: just did my mileage check.pretty much 60/40.mostly highway i think. put in 13.978 gallons.drove 400 miles exactly.i think it's 28.6 mpg.kinda surprised me a bit. last time i did it i got about 24 but that was a lot of city driving. i think it helps to shift between 2000 and 2500 rpm,s max.then i,ve been using the cruise once a day on the highway at night.set it on 60 or 65.just saw some posts in the past and decided to write you all.i.m pretty easy on the car but have to get on it because.................well because it's their. ....i remember a post awhile back where a few were saying it was a chicks car.well ??? what's the problem........i like chicks.i like the car...guess it's in the way you look at it. i'm happy.you could always look for a yugo....you all be good and enjoy the coming summer.......................joezee

My best tank got me 510 miles or so with a 17.5 gallon fillup (18.5 is the capacity). I forgot exactly how much but I did get past 30mpg on that tank. Lately, i've been only getting an average of 24-26mpg with my 80,400 mile 99 SE V6 5spd. I still haven't changed out my plugs and fuel filter yet. I just havent found time to get it done.

On 4/3/03 i went to vegas... i filled up my tank right before i left and reset my meters. i went to vegas and came back on one tank of gas. filled up 16.215 gallons. did a little city driving while i was in vegas. but most of it was highway. from San dimas to Vegas is about 260 miles. when i got home i had 536 miles and gas light turned on when i pulled in my driveway. 536/16.215=33.055per gallon. thats what i got but then again i have a i4 and i was going between 85 to 110mph most the time. i figured that was pretty good considering i usaully drive about 400 to 420 per a tank just from work and back normally. i for a extra 110 to 116 miles going all highway..

Damn joezee and flipside, that's some good gas mileage. I get mileage closer to swimshady. I average 20-21 mpg, with about 50/50 hwy/city. The only thing I can think of is that my rims might be a little heavy with the chrome and all, and that I shift at higher rpm's than some people; around 3k rpms normally and around 4k rpms when merging on the freeway, passing, and occasionally when beating the car next to me at the stop light. I just can't bear to shift at 2k or 2.5k rpms. I may as well have just gotten a 4 cyl. if I was going to drive like that. :-?

And i still had enough to last me a week...

I took me a sec. to figure out why all of you were getting such poor mileage. I never have any problems getting over 30 mpg, as a matter of fact, I've gotten as high as 33 mpg. Then I realized that we use the Imperial gallon up here (when converting from metric) which is bigger than the US gallon.
1 Imp. Gal = 4.54 Liters
1 US Gal. = 3.8 Liters
Now it all makes sense

There are solara commercials but not very many of them. As for best looking Toyota car...is your personal taste. I honestly don't think it's the best looking Toyota period.

How about a funnycar dragster Solara then? :P Last import mag that I skimmed through(8months ago??) two Solara tunned dragsters pulled near 8's(?) with a TRD supercharged V8 Tundra spec engine. Wish i remember the names. I actually found the website displaying the body construction on one of the solara's. 6pt bodyroll cage and yada yada.
