Oooh!!! White Castle! I'd drive from Chicago to the western suburbs to go to White Castle. (J/K) I had to jump on that one.

Couldn't you at least make it a Portillo's or somewhere worthy of meeting? When starting a call for a meet, always pick somewhere easy to find, interesting to those attending, located in a safe area and most importantly, a decent parking lot to gather cars.

For example: The McDonald's HQ in Oakbrook has a restaurant across from the mall. (Two floors, a coffee bar, flat panel TVs everywhere, etc...) Every week, that Mickey D's has a classic car show. Why not pick that night for a meet up?

Another suggestion: Meet up somewhere and organize a back roads drive to a place of interest. (Like the Volo Auto Museum north of Schaumberg.)

Next February, organize a meet to go to the Chicago AutoShow and then to a blues bar at night.

These are just some suggestions to help get peeps to show up. (But don't ask me for suggestions in your town, I live hundreds of miles away. )

^ sounds good man. itwas my first time organizing a meet so not sure. most of the people coming (60+ cars) aren't of solaraguy.org. im actually the only member, it's mostly lexus, mitsubishi's and a few other of my friend's car crews joining in.

next time there is a big meet like this one ill keep u informed. good idea is the oakbrook mall parking lot on the rooftop.(by Macy's) (at least meet up there first).

Still too cold in Feb.
I'd be happy to make it up there in May (Memorial day).
I need a Chicago pizza.

How about the weekend of June 8th - 10th.

This is the weekend of the 2007 Chicago Blues Festival in Grant Park.

What is it with you and the Blues?
Why not organize a meet around The Taste of Chicago?
I really don't care when we meet, as long as it's in a warm month. I moved to Texas because I can't stand snow. Anywhere between April and October, I'll be there.

LMAO! Detroit is a blues-free zone. If I have to listen to one more whiney Motown toon, I'm going to "PhreakOut."

Taste of Chicago is cool too. If I remember, it's around the 4th of July holiday. (So it usually is a conflict for me.) Chicago usually has a killer air show at sometime. This too has potential.

I don't need an event to go back home. You name the date and I'll be there. Fellow displaced-Chicagoans have got to stick together.

I did the same thing to my Gen2 cover. Please take some pictures and start a new thread on it.

I used car wax on the letters and Toyota logo before painting. Sprayed the whole thing then removed the wax and paint off the letters. It came out OK for a first attempt.

Air show is always late August. Often the week before Labor Day.

Taste runs for > 10 days leading up to the 4th depending on what day the 4th lands on.

I wish Elmhurst would schedule their show during a festival of some sort.

I got a phone call from some friends in Chicago. It made me realize how much I missed home. Looking at a calendar, it looks like May is my best opportunity to make it to Chicago (3 day weekend).

Regardless if there is a meet, I'll be there. If anyone else wants to meet with me and show off your ride, I'd be happy to see it.

Anyone else interested?
