225 hp sounds bad =\
240 torque sounds promising

accord is at 240 hp/ 212 torque with an avail. 6-speed manual

maxima is at 265 hp/ 250ish? torque

avalon is... =x

at least they can't match Toyota Quality :P
1GR-FE ftw!

Maxima =
Horsepower 265 @ 5800 RPM
Torque (lb-ft) 255 @ 4400 RPM

I hate to say it but the maxima is in a league above the solara or camry.

The 225hp sounds weak but im sure the car will have ballz because it has 240lb torque if your specs are correct.

That maybe true in price but in category, the Maxima is above the Camry/Solara platform. The current Altima is the Camry's direct competitor as the Maxima is to the Avalon (supposedly).

A real sequential tranny? Possibly E-shift but a sequential tranny? 225 HP is pitiful if you ask me.

supposedly is right, the Avalons are in a league of their own. completely different from camry's and solara's and much nicer than the maximas. IMO, the camry doesn't even compete with the altima; camry's are way better.

well not entirely. Avalons and Camrys are Really nice luxury cars. smooth, quiet, Very luxurious, and some of the best fit/finish this side of a Lexus. imo maximas and altimas are what people want if they want a little sport with there family hauler. i believe one of the major magazines clocked a Altima 3.5 5-speed at 5.9 0-60. thats pretty fast for anyones family sedan! and both the altima and maxima are available with manual transmissions, 17 or 18 inch rims with performance tires, and on the maxima, limited slip and stability control. you cant find any of those options on a camry or avalon. imo, the nissans and the toyotas are playing to two different crowds.

most of you guys are talking about the brand new cars without any modifications, but if there's anything i've learned in the still-countable-on-my-fingers number of days that i've been a member here, all of you drive in anything BUT an unmodified ride... :fadein:

240 torque @ only 3,600, thats actually really impressive. i was expecting it to be at a much higher rpm. you should be able to burn some major rubber with that much torque, that low in the rpm band! However, 225 hp isn't that immpressive from 3.3 liters these days. Nissan is able to get 287 thoroughbreds out of only .2 more liters in the 350Z. Toyota can get 230 out of the new sienna and its the same engine, that would be embarissing for toyotas family van to have more hp output than its new sporty coupe!
