Crackle pop noise? What is it?

Crackle pop noise? What is it?

During my first drive after a long sit in cold weather i hear a noise that sounds like a twig is stuck somewhere in the tire or its rubbing against the ground. And if i turn to a certain degree to the right i hear a noise coming out of the right side area. I checked the cv boots and they look great, what could that noise be?

Since your car isnt lowered yet (i think you havent) reach all the way inside of the wheel well and feel all around to see if theres anything stuck to the tires

Unless you recently got new tires that are far bigger than stock and rubbing?

It now sounds like a faint grinding sound. like almost metal on metal and it goes away at certain and high speeds. And when its real cold it makes like a pop noise if i turn a little but goes away if i keep turning. It almost sounds like a bad bearing? I have no clue. (im not lowered)

I had that sound in a VW diesel RABBIT once.... (remember those?!)

I think it was an '81..... I was driving it real hard in a parking lot.... it had begun to do that... (200k + miles on the car...) ...and all of a sudden, SNAP! I actually BROKE the cv joint yoke.... no joke.... HA!

Anyway... replaced it with a used one from the junk yard, and put nearly another 100k on that car.... then the doors LITERALLY fell off.... well, the driver side, anyway....

It doesn't matter if your CV BOOD is ok, it's about what is going on INSIDE.... If your bearings are DRY.....

Yea it makes a clunk noise if i turn and hit the gas but if i turn the steering a little more it stops. And on the highway it sounds like metal on metal (coarse) but its not that loud at all.
