Vibration at idle in 99 Solara SLE

Postby Stevarian » Fri Nov 24, 2006 4:14 pm

I have a 99 Solara SLE, with approx 88,000 miles on it. I have noticed in the last few weeks, a vibration while the car is at idle. I mainly feel it through the steering wheel, but can also feel it on the shifter. This is definitely something new.

I had a tune up earlier this year at the dealer.

Any thoughts on this? What can I do to diagnose this further without taking it to the shop?

Thanks in advance!

^^^ LOL It could mean a whole variety of things, but since it's only the steering and shifter, it may just be, like Eye8 said, the motor mounts. However if it's the entire car, you might need your throttle body cleaned (not too hard a DIY--perform a search if you want to do it).

If it is the motor mounts, what is an approximate cost to fix?

I just had a complete fuel system cleaning earlier this year, around the time I had the tune up. I posted here then, as I had a problem with a slight hesitation, that turned out to be a sensor had gone bad.
