Group Buy: VIS Gen 2 Solara Carbon Fiber Hood

VIS needs 15 orders and they will have a Gen 2 Carbon Fiber hood in 3-4 months once 15 people are added to this list.

Price: $391 + shipping (propably $125) = $516.00

If anyone is interested, and seriously. Not to knock on anyone, but if you're on the list, be prepared to shell out atleast $200 now and the remainder later. Please do not add yourself to the list if you're not 100% sure.

If for some reason this does not happen, then...nothing lost...nothing gained.

Thanks in advance to those interested.

Just painted. :D Although I've seen many w/ partial paint to match the car also and others just left it alone, so it's all about what you want.

Not unpainted - to me CF hoods/parts left unpainted remind me of the off-road fenders guys slap on their trucks and drive around.

Maybe if you covered your car with stickers too, it might blend in more.

I've only seen a couple rides with CF parts that looked right - and they're always as dark or darker than the CF.

Call me a nay sayer, but whats the point?

Are we really trying to cut down on weight? If we were, should we have bought a solara in the first place?

If its for the look, IMO if you dont have a black car then you should paint it. Otherwise it looks like you went to the junk yard and picked up a hood off a wreck. But if you paint it so it doesnt look like carbon fiber, whats the point?

Don't get me wrong, I am all about getting the aftermarket going for our cars, i'm just not sure about CF hoods...

^^ Yeah -my thoughts exactly...

I hate to bitch about not having aftermarket parts of ANY kind, but if it's just for looks, and that's what you're after, then cool. I personally think those kinds of parts look better on the Gen 1s. The Gen 2s are too "rounded" looking IMO.

Now if someone was making fender flares or lip kits, then let's talk! :D

Michael - we do appreciate the efforts you've made to line up the deal - seriously! Just not my cup o' tea at this time, so just voicing my personal opinion/taste. There may be others out there that are waiting to jump on this - so best of luck! ;)

How heavy are your stock hoods? If VIS makes a good hood then it's worth it. It's all relative to whether or not you want one. Carbon fiber is sometimes used for looks, sometimes functionality, sometimes both. I say why not do it? fior looks it's not as if it looks black, it looks carbon fiber, and if you were to paint a stck hood CF, well that's just retarded, and if you want to paint over CF then more power to you, ther'es lot sof directions it can be taken, if you don't want one, don't get one. Mike wants one, he's trying to get one.

Yup, I agree!

I think the only way CF looks good on lighter colored cars is when it is paited so that all but a little is left exposed so that people looking at the car still know its CF... just my opinion.

You know i been interested for a while mike.. but i dont have the money now.. tell me when this will be available till.. i mite get a job during winter break.. is the hood OEM style or any scoops or anything?

i was thinking painting both sides of the hood and leave the middle of it unpainted so it blends in rite to my grill.. i think it will look good.. im trying to make my car 2 tone - silver and black

I think it looks pretty awesome.

I wish I still had my red Gen2. I'd be all for a CF hood.
