2004 Toyota Solara Discussion

If it's anything like the Accord's pricing...

the SE model (used to be about 19k for no options) will be about 20500
the v6 models will increase in price due to the engine change, and the sequential 5-speed auto transmission... so I'd guess about 25 for a SE, and 28 for SLE base models w/ no extra access... but it's all a guess
1GR-FE ftw!

None so far. It's just a preview of what they will be releasing.

Click on the Solara. It shows the model grades and stuff that you'd like to know. But it isn't complete yet.

I don't know if anyone specifically mentioned this, but I think the car would have looked soooo much better if the crease on the each side was perfectly straight like on the 1st gen. Instead, it takes some wacky curve in the back that makes it look cheap (like the Tiburon that everyone has compared it to). I think the straight crease makes it look a lot more elegant.

They have the SE, SE Sport, SLE models for the 2004. For those interested, the SE Sport has these:

Body kit
17" aluminum alloy wheels
Color-keyed rear spoiler
Sport-tuned suspension
Sport fabric seats
Carbon fiber-style trim
Unique sport gauges
Leather-trimmed shift knob, parking brake and steering wheel

I like the gauges. They kinda look like what I have right now but better.

The only thing I like about the 2004 is the indiglo's on the speedo...oh and the fact that I don't own it! :)

Goes to show that U.S. can't design a car! :P

To Ultramookie: The 2004 is not considered a Solara! Please filter out those owners... don't have a 2004 section on Solaraguy...hehehe j/k.

There should be a new forum for the 2004 buyers: Solaratiburonguy.com
Yeah, I've owned 2 Solaras so.............................Image

I totally agree with you. But if you were designing that car, you wouldn't do a straight crease because of the form of the taillights. It goes to show that the designers value the taillights more than the crease because they had to compromise the crease and curve it to make it look connected to the edge of the taillights. It would look so off if you keep those taillights and keep the straight crease that we have on our Solaras.

Until I see one up close, give it a 360° inspection. Then sit in the driver's seat, inspect the entire interior. Ask for a test drive. I'll give my ups and downs then. But for now, my mouth is real bland and dry from the rear look. Those rear lights won't even make a piercing in the night life. *takes it a highend import mod shop'n'slices the rear off'n'molds on new boxier sleek rear lights* :p Oki baby, you're sexy now. lol. Solara/Toyota owners. We should write a big petition. Change the REAR and engine specs for more more more umph!

I think the 2004 Solara coupe designers drink at the same bar as the 2003 Accord coupe designers and there's a lot of chit-chat between them. As in the Accord, the engine is good, interior is excellent, but the exterior is piss poor, especially from the side and rear.

The engine is good? Hey it made me wanna trade-in my Solara for the new Accord coupe. The engine is awesome for it's category! :infinity: The new accord needs lowering and it's fine. As for the new Solara, well... we'll see what people would do to it when it's finally out for sale. Btw, the new accord copied the Solara design not the other way around.

I too have mixed feelings about the rear of this car. After looking at the photos I think that the tail lights and the Monte Carlo like crease takes away from what could have been a decent looking car. Toyota certainly needs to take a closer look of the direction in which Nissan/infinity is heading with their designs.

All that keep screaming at me is ALTIMA, I think it has a lot in common, esp, the interior omg, maybe toyota is just trying to steal a few of those sales away, considering the current model dont fly off the lots. :-?

awwwww...what did they do?!!

besides the fact that i STILL HAVEN'T GONE TO BED since tuesday into wednesday (damn papers)..i think that i'm still seeing enough to know that what i'm seeing, i'm not liking!!

on the optimistic side, however, i'm about 85% sure that it looks better in person. Not to mention that orangey color doesn't do it justice..a gen 1 would look gross that color too.

ahhh..i wish i could redesign it myself

what bothers me most is that it looks like a 2door camry..the solara didn't really look like the camry before, it just shared the chassis, ....but now it now it deserves to be called a 2door camry :(
