Thanks again for the info Flip. I will get the FI cleaner, It doesn't hesitate that much, but when i step on it, it doesn't seen to pick up untill i hit boost. Usually around 3.5-4 thousand RPM.
But that may be my trany. I mean by not having the upgrade torque converter. It just seems so floating, So what's the stall speed that I need.

Check engine Light

Postby Iflyhd » Fri Apr 18, 2003 8:44 pm

I had some problems a while back with the output of mine, with the check engine light also coming on, it turned out to be a bad knock sensor. It will drastically reduce your HP, if they pull the codes you will know right away.

Also where in S. Fl. did you have it dynoed, I'm looking fora shop?

I only know of one other guy who got the JP Performance headers with an auto, and he only got about 212 hp even with a 6 lb pulley. He's not sure if his ECU is retarding timing, though. Still, the power gains with auto trannies don't seem like much for the money that people are laying out.

Now that I think about it, though, Jim @ Foreign Affairs also has an auto, and he just installed the JP headers. He's probably going to have the highest dyno numbers of anyone, but he's done a lot of internal work to his engine.

Hey Iflyhd, I live in stuart FL. I went to a shop in Boyton Beach. It's called Thunder Auto Sport. They were cheap. I was really suprised. My car was hooked up on the dyno for just shy of 2 hours and they only charged me 1 hour. It's 100 dollar an hour with programing.
Where do you live in central FL. There's a dyno shop in Stuart that just opened but no one there can program the super AFC.
Ya my CEL came back on again, so on monday I'm going to toyota and see whats wrong. How much was it to fix the knock sensor.
Any one know the stall speed on a upgrade torque converter?

Knock Sensor

Postby Iflyhd » Sat Apr 19, 2003 6:16 am

If it is the sensor and you are still under warrenty it should be covered, if not you will probably be looking at $150 for the sensor plus labor, I would recommend having them change both sensors while they have the top end of the engine off.

I'm in Kennedy Space center area. Thanks for the info on the Dyno, I really need to get in and have mine tuned. Don't know of any spped shops for your other work, I have a reall good Mechanic at my Toyota Dealer, has done all the work on mine which I can't get to.

Do you have the number for the shop, where you had it Dyno'ed?

Unfortunately that auto tranny was designed for comfort and economy...that's the reason why you have alot of driveline loss through it. Don't be surprised if your numbers are around that or even less. An auto tranny is an auto tranny...never will perform like a manual.

The gas mileage you are getting is due to how your auto tranny is geared. If your tranny had ratios that reflected more performance and shorter gears, your gas mileage would be way less than what you're getting now since your engine will be sitting at higher rpms at cruising speed.
