trying new pads, do I need to turn rotors?

trying new pads, do I need to turn rotors?

I cant stand the squealing of my front brakes. I am running Wagner ceramic pads on Brembo rotors (blank). I tried multiple combinations with shims on/off and 3 different anti-squeal products but the noise always comes back.

I am planning to buy a front set of genuine OEM Toyota ceramic pads to replace the Wagners, hoping they will quiet my stopping. I have read (sorry no sources off the top of my head) that rotors should be machined down before installing new brake pads. Considering my current rotors and pads are undamaged and relatively new, is this necessary?

No. Rotors only need to be turned if the surface is uneven.

Hey, just wondering.... you mention trying various "products" to reduce/eliminate the squeal.... were any of these the "tacky" product (don't know the name) that goes on the BACK of the pads? It's a product that makes the pad "ADHERE" to the cylinder(s) so the pad actually "RETRACTS" with the cylinder when you let off the brake.

Another thing that can cause the squeal is if the cylinders have "build-up" and aren't fully "retracting" in the first place....

Sorry if you know all this already.... just thot I'd ask....

EDIT--> Forgot something: If the pads you are using are not seating WITHIN the diameter of the rotor, they will develop a little "lip" that can cause squeal as well.... I've pulled such pads off and "ground off" the lip and then "beveled" the excess back so the pad is within the rotor, and that worked!

Good luck!

Oh, yeah.... bump on the "NO" to changing.... if the SURFACE is smooth AND they are "true"....

My pads are OEM spec and fit the rotors perfectly.

For the products that go on the backs of the pads and between the shims...

I have tried high temp grease, anti-sieze, and two types of "anti-squeal" rubbery compound.
