Help Choosing Replacement Tires....

I've been doing some research around the web for some replacement tires (after I woke up this morning with a flat tire.) That's not the reason Im changing them, the tread is pretty much gone. My question for you guys is, between the Yokohama AVID H4S and the Falken Ziex ZE-512 which do you recommend?

So far it seems like the Falken has gotten more favorable reviews on (1010tires.com) but on SG, not so good. Who in here has had any experience with these tires? How's the tread wear and snow/wet grip .......especially snow since I dont feel like sliding into anymore curbs like I did last year.

I had the falkens on my stock rims it was fine I liked them but everything comes down to how you drive on them. I was easy on my shoes good luck

I'd go with the Ziex because they have gotten very good reviews from magazines and friends.

), the tires I have on it now are the OEMs Bridgestone Turanzas (I have a '00 w/ 79K miles )
I'm leaning towards the Falkens because they're cheaper then the Yokos, that's a definite plus. DiscountTireDirect.com has them for 63 bucks w/ free shipping. But Im seeing a trend in the reviews, Falkens don't last too long. Spadwaller how long did you ride your falkens?

One more question, my current tire size is 215/55/16 , what difference is their if I change them to 215/60-65/16? Wouldn't I just have a fatter tire?

The azenis st-615's last a while. I have sold hundreds of sets of the 512's and they are great for the price but wet traction isnt that great. If you want wet traction and long lasting the answer is the weatherhandler by michelin. 90,000 mile waranty. good design. the falkens will last between 25000 and 60000 depending on the rating you get.
And every tire will last longer than the waranty if you keep up with the alignment (at least twice a year) and rotations every 5000 miles.

79K MILES on a set of TIRES!!!!! You, my friend, are:

a) driving like miss daisy

b) driving on tires as smooth as Yule Brenner's noggin

c) driving like miss daisy on tires as smooth as Yule Brenner's noggin

The yokos are the best. Ive had them for around 5k miles, really quiet tires, good handling, 500 treadwear and AA traction.

Maybe no peel outs, but I do take corners hard and speed in city traffic (constant start and stop).

I guess I really don't have to worry too much about the treadwear, Since I only put about 10-15k miles a year on it. And I plan to keep the 'Lara for a year or two more.

my falken ziex's were horrible...totally worn at 15k miles on 225/40/18's...I have the ecsta asx now, much better treadwear, but poor wet traction.

I would go with the yokos!

That's what i wanted to know, someone who actually ridden the Ziex's over 5k. Cuz alot of reviewers on these sites, give immediate impression reviews. Thanks HSK.

no problem bro...I actually started having initial wear issues at 7k miles! The falkens had a mileage gaurantee, so I got the ecsta's for free, + free road hazard.

The ecsta asx has a gaurantee of 40k miles I believe...but once again, I do not trust them in the rain, I hydroplane all the time on my 225-40-18's.

I just got the yokos put on my stock rims for this winter...they ride nice. Good traction when its dry, its alright in the snow.

Go with the Yokos. I have the Avid H4's on 3 out of 5 family cars, Avid V4 on mine and Yoko (SUV) tires on the Highlander. 60k treadwear and they stand behind their products, p.s. the Avids were on my 18's (225/40 18) for summer and my winter 16" (225/55 16)
