Stock talk about the Generation 1 and 1.5 Toyota Solara which were produced from 1999 to 2003.

Would you?

RWD conversion has been done to solara ( RWD 2JZ Drag Solara in NHRA, used to be turbonetics ( dunno if it still is ) has RWD )

Tracy you know That is just a solara shell... Be realistic, Turbonetics would not go through the trouble of converting a actual solara.

You want a LS1...

Now you want a RWD Toyota.... Here you go... LOL

Or let's do it all wheel....

Bottomline, Andrew anything is possible and if you have the "Hook up" then why not, I would do it and not think twice about doing the conversion. LS1 RWD Solara?

But I see this as just another dream/wish down the drain that will never happen.. Now with that said, prove me wrong. AHHAHA

Ok my $0.02.

I agree with your boss when he says it looks like the Solara SHOULD be rear wheel drive, but I always think if any car can't be all wheel drive it should be rear wheel drive.

My personal opinion is that the Solara is a great car and placing a Chevy engine in it will make it less of a great car not because Chevy sucks or anything. It just takes away from the Toyotaness of the car.

When I think about what I like in the Solara, I think, it's a quiet car, a comfortable car to drive on the interstate, a reliable car that rarely needs to be fixed, a car that gets great gas mileage on the interstate and is just a great all round car. It seems to me that none of those factors will be the same when the swap is done.

But if you don't have a problem with it, then I say, "Great, a screamin' rear wheel drive Solara." However, if I didn't have a problem owning a Chevy engine, then I'd much prefer just to have the Corvette. I think it is a much better looking car anyway. You can always make that different over time. I don't see is as a choice between a custom Solara and a stock Corvette.

Finally, why exactly is this costing so much? I have built my Corolla up quite a bit and I do know how costs can run away, but I still think this can be done for less. Also, I'd forget about flaring the fenders, unless you absolutely have to to fit the rear axle(s) in. Do that later, when you want to widen it. Just concentrate on getting it functional and comfortable.

Either way, good luck.

Hmm. Would the "sleeper" factor be worth the effort, expense, and effect on your resale value?

I would do it just because it would make people think... debate as to why you shouldn't do it and give you all the reasons stated previously!

But then again - I'm a rebel so I'd do most anything people say I shouldn't or can't do! ;)

If it makes you happy to do it (which it should!) then go for it! You're young - and still and you have plenty of time to save up for a house, etc... :D

The idea is ok I guess ..but def don't do it the money u spend on this conversion you might needed for something else one day ...what u should try is putting an tl type s engine with the 6 speed manual conversion its made for a Fwd car in the first place ....remember that s2000 with 2-jz swap ...honyota ...make this one toyocura ....

If I do this I’m keeping it forever. Unless it sales for like 50k. Then I would consider it.
Thanks
