well actually this is the original design and it works. unfortunately zwMotorsports seems like a bunch of dipshits that dont follow through on their work. Dats isnt the designer. they are, so its their fault. he just got the crap together. either way i am dissapointed. luckily i have the access to the equipment to fix this crap.

what about adding a couple of flanges near the rear tube to make up that 3/8" or whatever it is difference? Or wouldn't that work?

Only if you extent the studs on the manifold about 1.5 inches so they make it through all the flanges.

^^^gotcha...anybody know the diameter/size of the rear bolts? Could just get the same diameter, but longer, that's my idea anyway.

bolt

Postby NRDriver » Sun Dec 31, 2006 7:26 pm

the bolts are part of the manifold. it doesnt just have holes for bolts. you would haave to take off your manifolds, cut off the bolts, and then drill through the manifold to make holes. i wold suggest using a drill press for that. all and all, its more work than cutting the y pipe off behind the second manifold, flippin it and cuttin and rewelding the flange.

They are threaded studs held in with red loctite at least my 01 is that way. I twisted one out when I tried to install my pipe.

They are probably m10

so I take it as, at this point, Dat is leaving the forum and we WON'T be getting any cash back to help us re-weld the flex pipe? It's all up to our own now to make it work? A place told me it would be about $100 to "make it work", does this sound fair? or too much?

OK I got it in the nice guys at ejp welding fixed it up for me. After that it went in but it did hit the frame a bit. For the connections to the manifold use FEL-PRO part number 60674 catalytic converter gasket for mercury villager v6 183 cu inch with one bolt hole opened up a bit. FOt the flanges to the cat and exhaust use FEL-PRO 60679 from a 1985 Mazda V6. You need 2 of each and the mazda one will NOT work well with the manifold so don't bother trying.

here are pics of repair you should have them tilt the section after the rear flange down a little bit mine is strill rubbing a little.

cool...so that extra piece they welded on before the rear tube going up to the rear headers, did you cut a piece from the removable mid-pipe or did they have the same material?

Will the mid-pipe/catalytic still work even though the flex pipe has been moved?
