Hmmm... your policing agencies are militant out there...
I have taken ALL my front plates off, and only had a warning several times in 20+ years... on ONE of the warnings, the guys was a "mature" full-grown Ohio State Highway Patrol... he popped his trunk and pulled out the SPECIFIC SECTON CODE and everything to prove it as a mandatory requirement for me, and I assured him I would put it on right away... (and DID.... for awhile...)
I keep the Solara tag, bent and all, in my trunk... "...oh, YES officer... that got PULLED OFF in the AUTOMATED SOFT-CLOTH carwash at the Wapakoneta Shell recently... I was just looking for a good plate-frame to BETTER SECURE it to the front... sir...."
Haven't had to use it yet in 56k miles... but I'm READY!
(My MOTORCYCLE plates are "bent up" enought to create DOWNFORCE on the rear wheel... JUST enough angle to allow a polly to MAKE OUT the numbers from seated position in his car... the "TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT" according to a local enforcement friend. No hassles... except the time I got briefly "DRAFTED" pulling mid-triple digits just before exiting I-75... and then I saw him back there and he followed for 4 miles before pulling me over for... "plate hard to see"... and let me off with a warning... --> I heard his radio chatter from the "call-in" as I waited for him to run the plates, and the lady dispatcher said "NEGATIVE, doesn't match the description...", so he let me off... later I found out a local motorcyclist fled from police on a 3 county chase...)
