Flimsy Body

Flimsy Body

Postby FLASH » Wed Apr 23, 2003 7:54 pm

Has anyone else noticed that the body on the solara is pretty...cheap? The reason I say is this is because my father opened the door to his Chrysler Sebring and LIGHTLY tapped my door and now there's a very noticeable ding there. Also the littlest bit of weight on my hood, and it's dented. I ended up gettin a new hood, but what I should do about the ding on the door? I was just gonna use Billy Mayes's DING KING, simply because I love his infomercials, and I hope the product works, because I don't want to buy a new door because Toyota seems to make flipsy body parts.

Yeah the body is flimsy. I noticed that too. I dont know why but I've seen cheaper cars with better body material.

ps. I can't stand Billy Mayes, his voice is annoying.

I have my share of door dings myself. Mainly on the passenger side door.

Go to ding removal shop. I guarantee they will do a good job.
Just like magic the ding will be gone.
Reasonable price and you don't have to repaint/replace the door.

PS: I don't think the ding king will work.

Ding removal rods (those long sticks) are famous at the body shops. They insert a rod and remove the dings...w/o painting/stripping the paint, etc...infact its done in about 30 minnutes..inclusing buffing.

I think all cars take a fair share of dings...its just that some show is more easily than others...Solara (unfortunately) is one of those cars which shows it!

I park at the 4th level at my office and take THREE spots to park my car....Three years ago I was the only one parking on the 4th level...today, all young civic's, teggi's, s2000's, and a few stangs joing me in taking more than one spot to avoid dings!

LOL Dont worry. Its not a real solara unless it has a few dings. Your car will be broken in soon

I don't take my car out much? 16000 miles in 8 months... yea, I think I take it out

Maybe timewise though =\ surprising... seeing that I live next to ASIANS and park next to ASIANS and I'm ASIAN myself... lol *_* 'tis dangerous in my hood!

na, my 02 isn't invicible :) i've definately got a couple. when i worked at sprint a couple years ago i was walking in from lunch and some guy had just gotten out of his prelude and was sitting there smoking a few cars down with one of our co-workers. this truck pulls up next to him and someone gets out and puts a ding in his door, noticed he did it, rubbed it a little, then walked inside. the owner of the prelude got PISSED, waited till he went inside, then kicked the hell out of the guy's truck. one of the funniest things i've ever seen.
