Manual Swap or Supercharger?

Manual Swap or Supercharger?

Postby Mcthings » Wed Jan 10, 2007 9:43 pm

I can't decide if I want to save for a manual swap or a supercharger on my 1997 Camry v6 1mz-fe

What do you think?

I think you should get a new car if you want a manual. Either do both or just the supercharger.

if you can find a donor car, then do the 5-speed swap and then do the supercharger later- if you can find one

it wouldn't be too hard if you can find a donor car

I would do the manual swap first if the tranny were to be going bad.....

Do the SC only if you have the extra cash to do the fuel upgrades and everything needed to run the car without detonation....

But a SC is no fun on an auto solara, and I am telling you out of experience.

yep, and its a perfect replacement car... or if you dont want, an amazing donor car thats ready to roll with all the modifications you'd need for that supercharger anyways.

Just go to the junk yard and find an older camry that they haven't dug into yet, and tell them what you want from it... thats what I did... I got all the parts I needed from the same car

The manual is way better

Amen to that. Or on an auto Camry. I have driven both and if I had either I wouldn't have bothered with a supercharger.

I think it would be a pain to swap the tranny...just get one w/ a 5spd, then think SC.

Manual swap all the way you can add power later. While you are at it make sure to get a light weight flywheel.

i'd have to agree with pretty much everyone else, manual swap then supercharger. Junk yard is definitely the best bet as well.

I'd agree with those who say it's a wiser choice to simply purchase a car with a manual transmission from the get-go.
