Specs on the SB Chevy?
- I can see Edelbrock Performer Intake (Low RPM split plenum) Good for bottom end power.
- Timing cover is billet? Cloyes? (sp)
- Does this have aluminum heads? Can't tell if they are cast that are painted.
- Headers look pretty standard.
- Valve covers are interesting. (Bolts down on the top??) Not familar with more recent SBC valve covers. I'm used to the old school 4 bolts. Two on the intake manifold side and two on the header side. Do they attach to a long stud on the exhaust rockers? Any prone to leaking?

- Bore size?
- Piston brand and spec? (CR)
- Rods spec?
- What are you running for combustion chamber size in the head?
- Valve sizes
- Cam grind specs?
- 2 bolt or 4 bolt block?

Sorry for so many questions ... I used to have a '71 Chevelle that I built up in my youth.

i knew someone would ask the specs on the motor k here goes

performer RPM Air gap(nothing like a performer and also arguably the best intake ever derived (all around) its a dual plane that can breath up top

Bored Throttle body that flows 850cff(stock tb flow is like 400cfm)

Racing head services pro torker vortec heads with fast burn 58cc(vortec 305) combustion chambers, improved ports(over factory vortecs which are already better than any other factory port) and cut for 2.02 intake and 1.6 exhaust valves(stock vortecs use 1.94/1.50 valves

Volant cold air intake

Eagle 3.75 stroke forged crank
JE 4.040 forged pistons(dished)

Comp Cams Extreme Fuel Injection Cam here are the specs off summit

Brand: COMP Cams
Product Line: COMP Cams Xtreme Fuel Injected Camshafts
Cam Style: Hydraulic roller tappet
Basic Operating RPM Range: 1,800-5,800 RPM
Intake Duration at 050 inch Lift: 218
Exhaust Duration at 050 inch Lift: 224
Duration at 050 inch Lift: 218 int./224 exh.
Advertised Intake Duration: 268
Advertised Exhaust Duration: 276
Advertised Duration: 268 int./276 exh.
Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.570 in.
Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.565 in.
Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.570 int./0.565 exh. lift
Lobe Separation (degrees): 113
Intake Valve Lash: 0.000 in.
Exhaust Valve Lash: 0.000 in.
Computer Controlled Compatible: Yes
Grind Number: 268XFI HR13

File to fit rings, clevite 77 bearings, 1 5/8 inch hedman headers(getting them jet hot coated), huge inline fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, msd blaster coil, 3000 stall B&M convertor, B&M Shift kit for the 4l60(non E) and also a shift improver that plugs inline with the factory harness and has two stages. Oh yeah and im using 1.6 ratio full roller rockers to get more lift off the cam (stock is 1.5 as you may know) Copper head gaskets reusable intake gaskets .

just getting started

ATI procharger running at 10psi(reason for the dished pistons) intercooled
80lb/hr injectors(factory 454) running at way higher than stock fuel pressure(stock pressure is like 13psi my regulator adjusts up to 40psi, the injectors are the same type as a higher pressure system so they can safely handle the extra pressure.) I have acquired an eprom burner and am getting familiar with tts datamaster analyzing software and will be using my wideband to get a really good tune. the datamaster program records a run and you can just sit and analyze till its just right. burn the eprom and put it in the adapter i have and BOOM dead on tune.

If anyone is wondering why the volant if im supercharging its because im going to put a few break in miles on it be4 flogging.

THINGS I FORGOT

every bolt is ARP head bolts main bolts(4 bolt BTW) Intake bolts oil pan bolts timing cover bolts etc

Those valve covers are cast aluminum and also all 1986+ small blocks had "centerbolt" valve covers.

Summit aluminum timing cover, summit water neck, high volume oil pump....etc.......etc......etc.....

also summit has the powerband wrong on that cam its more like 2000-6500rpm from my experiences in the past with a similar cam

omg im tired i didnt realize how much i had done

BTW its a 388 i believe(never even figured it up) 4.040x3.75X3.14x8=???

aluminum rods also. and look closely at the intake u can see it has a gap that seperates the plenum from the valley and keeps heat from hot oil away from the incoming air

Damn!! Nice setup. You're going to light the tires everytime you slowly pull from a stop.

The cam is very streetable. Nice to see you resisted the urge to go with the big loppy idle cam. Oh, it'll sound sweet. It just won't be like a Harley (which is a good thing.) Since the cam is the brains of the engine, selection is critical. I was wondering about the TBI. I was not sure if it was a Carter type carb or a throttle body. This explains the style of the K&N intake.

With the additional pic, I can now see the gap between the lifter valley and lower manifold. I used to use a Victor Jr intake which had a huge gap but it was a open plenum as opposed to your split. It's a dang nice looking design for a split. Personally, I had more fun with my Performer split than the Victor Jr. I was running a 0.030" over small block 400cid (406cid) in my 71 Chevelle. I had gobbs and gobbs of low end torque with that monster. I sold that car and bought a 300ZX turbo. It's been all foreign rides (with exception for a couple) ever since then.

Working on these small block chevy engines was a breeze. It looks like you had a lot of fun with it. Thanks for sharing the pics and specs.

The cam has a new lobe profile that is supposed to be compatible with fuel injection, but the duration at .050" on this cam is a the limits of what a speed density type fuel injection system can handle(in other words, rough idle might be imminent but a good tune will smooth it out a little. The lobe separation is wide for that reason to. But the lift is whats crazy, almost .15 over a cam with the same duration. Like look at an extreme energy 268 cam and check out its lift figures, what we should have lots of power all over the place, the 1.6 rockers increase lift even more! The procharger im going to use if for a carbed small block (im running the rochester tb on a 4 barrel intake using an adapter plate.

Nice GM motor! :)

But how about an up-close pic of the paint that's actually in focus? Just kinda looks like dust on the car. ;)
