Question FOR all Gen 1-1.5 CPE owners

Postby Midias » Thu Jan 18, 2007 7:48 pm

I recently installed my CPE intake and I am really noticing the power difference from when the ACIS changes over at about 4k RPM. I was wondering of anyone has done the acis MOD with the CPE intake.
So any thoughts suggestions ect?
BTW CPE does fit with a throttle body spacer

UPDATE I fixed my problem with getting the bit stuck in the vaume hole. First i made the hole big enough to fit the entire tube then I added this NPT fitting. Take a look and YES i cleaned the JB weld out of the fitting after I saw the pictures.

Any paticuar reason you were thinking of doing it as well. I know a lot of people said their car lost a lot of low end power and felt slower so I am a bit curious about what might happen

I am not gonna mess with the acis any more than the dremel polish job I did a year or so back.

it seemed to get mixed reviews... i wanna do it cuz im pretty curious to see if there are any gains. and its free and reversible so why not? right?

from what i understood it feels like it might be slower.. or is it smoother like one said?

and supposedly more responsive. I guess ill do it when i clean out the the throttle body i saw from another tutorial. That one seemed to work well for a lot of others...

how much of a difference do you feel in power between the cpe and the injen sri?

because when u get a regular cai or sri, most of the "feel" is just psychological, it's not really going as fast as you THINK it is.

I notice the same pull with my injen+cae when I get above 4k...have never tried the acis mod, but may have to.

Good analogy. The CPE intake is way more than a party favor.

EDIT:: went on a sales call to Daytona today, clocked about 100 miles. figured 29.3 miles per gallon, 80% highway, even winding it out a few times just to hear that evil sound.

Fairly easy to install not big deal just take your time and use a DMM to check your connections.

BUT you will have to wait for the next group buy to get one.

I am pleased with my injen and extension currently, but will probably consider a cpe in the future...

FYI, I did notice a significant improvement in performance when I put on my extension, versus just the plain old noisemaker sri. I truly do not see any advantages to installing an Injen without the extension. Averaged 28 mpg on my trip to San Antonio last year as well.

Any plans for an extension for the CPE? I would think that this would help even more since the CPE as it is now absorbs a lot of heat, however the fuel map(s) would probably have to modified.

It would be interesting to see some dynos of the injen+cae vs. CPE, to truly see the difference. I think we could probably get another group buy going fairly quickly with this info.

most injens are polished while the CPE has a heat resistant powdercoat and that can make a huge difference. Also the built in heat shield protects it nicely.
