UPDATE: HEADER INSTALL - PLEASE HELP ME!

UPDATE:
OK so I got everything on the front ready for the header to be put in. However, I didn't do one thing first, CHECK for fitment. So when I went to check the rear header not enough room into the area to put the header on. Looks like I need to remove the half-shaft (not sure if thats what its called or not) or tilt the motor forward. Does anybody have any ideas to help me out. Don't wanna take it to an exhaust shop b/c they'll charge me alot to fix what I screwed up. Looks like I shoulda gone to a pro afterall from the beginning.

Installing my headers and y-pipe at this moment. I ran into a cuple problems/ issues.

1. On my rear stock manifold it has 2 sensors one is the obdII i guess and other maybe egr? Problem is the new headers only have one spot to hookup, can an exhaust shop make the other hookup?

2. How in the heck do I get the nut off the rear manifold that is farthest to the right on the bottom? (If looking from the front seats to the front of the car)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Like I said i'm without a ride till this gets fixed.

I warned everyone about this here http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php?t=30591. Your missing a hole for your o2 sensor. Have a exhaust shop weld one onto the y pipe right where it bolts to the header. Thos nuts are a bitch to get off not sure on that one.

K i knew you told us about it. Figured I would give it a shot anyways. Any tips on how you got yours off?

O2 sensor? Curious kind of a dumb question but just to be sure. On my camry i have an 02 sensor into the manifold and just below that I have some other hookup not sure if its a "vacuum line" or another sensor but it screws into the manifold with two screws. Can the shop make that so it will screw in?

headers

Postby trd4life » Sat Jan 20, 2007 12:01 pm

I had a shop do my install so i dont know how they got it off but the car needs to be on a lift.

the flange you see with 2 bolts is the EGR tube. that tube bolts onto your new headers no problem. the 02 sensor that screws in on the back needs a place to go on the new headers. I had a spot welded for the o2 sensor on the y pipe since i couldnt find a good place to put the hole on the actual headers because the EGR flange is taking up all the room on it.

pipes install

it would be nice to get your car on a lift. you dont need it though. as for your problem, it not uncommon to have to undo a engine mount or to so the engine leans down to access the rear header
