Install CPE before timing belt replacement?

Well my wonderful 2002 is at 97,500 right now and I'm going to take it in to get the whole timing belt/water pump/spark plugs/etc service but I was curious about installing my CPE. I got it back on Tuesday after sending it in to have them drill the hole and was going to install it this weekend.

Should I wait to get the other done first? Will installing that cause an issue with Toyota when they do the maintenance? I don't want them to say anything about me modifying the ECU or anything.

I'm still debating on whether to take it to my Toyota mechanic or just bring it in to the dealer. I called the dealer and they quoted me $299.95 for just the timing belt and said I should do the (front seals?) too for $129.95 and then I'm sure they'll rape me for some other stuff too. So who knows. Thank goodness I'm getting my tax return soon.

just install it. It in no way affects the work they will be doing.

^^^ That may be TRUE... but it's more about the BS that you may get from the dealer regarding the "non-OEM" configuration, etc... if any "unusual costs" creep up, some BS Dealerships MAY (shouldn't) give him a hard time and/or "rape/con" him into something he shouldn't need to do, etc... perhaps they may simply indicate on the work order that any "warranty" is VOID on their work being done because the vehicle is not "stock".

In MY case, I don't usually go to my DEALER for this type of work... although I DO take it to my shop instead of doing it myself. (haven't yet on THIS car...) If I DO take it to MY dealer, they all know me so well, and I specify the NAME of the mechanic to do the job... they all assure me there is NO ISSUE up front, and actually enjoy working on my cars/truck BECAUSE of the "personality" and mods... I know, this is the EXCEPTION.

If I were you, I'd be considering getting the timing belt done quick first, if that option is easily executed. (If you are REALLY worried about it and don't have a "personal" relationship with your dealer... although it SHOULDN'T be necessary.)

Spend the extra money get all belts done and do the water pump.
