Postby _Tyger_Lilly_ » Mon Feb 05, 2007 5:51 pm

k I just got the car and know nothing about mods... the supercharger has a nice loud noise comeing from it and I only get 3lbs out of it - is it low on oil? is it out of oil? is it a bad bearing? my location isnt used to aftermarket so my mechanic is LOST. Can I check the supercharger oil? How?
Sorry guys

When I use to boost stock, my car too only gaved 3 to 3.5 lbs of boost. I find that the location of where the boost port to be a bad spot. Its never 100% accurate to me. SOmetime youll see it go to 3.7-4.

When I brought mine up to 5.5 lbs of boost and run it straight up, My TRD gauge says I am putting 6-7psi spikes........ So yeah its not 100% accurate.

Its a long painful work. But the chance of it leaking is 2% out of 100K miles. Dealerships charge you up the butt to change it but me doing it myself cost me only 11 dollars and 2-3 hours of labor and that included changing sparkplugs and bearings while Im at it for fun.......

See if you can find any solara expert members in your area if you do decide to do it yourself and not take it to the dealership.

I don't even bother taking my car to a dealership when it comes to supercharger stuff (most often than not, then don't really know all that much about it...which is true in your case). I take my car to a performance shop, they deal mostly with engine rebuilds, mustangs, corvettes, and some imports. They've been awesome so far, try finding something of the like around you and ask them if they've every dealt with supercharger's before.

Also, if your gonna change the oil you need to read this:
