Hey all,
I have a '99 solara SLE v6 with less than 20k miles on it (used to be my grandmother's). I have been looking online at different parts by TRD but I can't find information on how effective these upgrades are.

Will buying new struts for the front and rear actually improve steering performance? Does lowering the chasis with the TRD springs make a difference as well?

How much performance gain should i expect by adding a new TRD exhaust kit or Injen Ram-air intake? Do TRD "sport" break pads actually improve breaking performance?

If anyone has had experience with TRD parts please let me know how much improvement they noticed with their new parts. Thanks a lot!

^^^ LOL!!!

Wow, a 99 with 20k... thats crazy!

And for the answers to your questions you can search... they all have been answered many times.

Quick answers:
TRD struts and springs will make a difference in handling and ride feel.
Biggest difference for handling will come from the RSB
Intake and exhaust question: the answer will depend on who you talk to. I honestly felt no difference with my intake or exhaust, but they sound great. (Many others say they felt a difference with both).

Like I said before the biggest difference in handling will come from adding a TRD RSB (rear sway bar), and IMO the Tein Coilovers (or JIC) make a HUGE difference over the TRD Springs and Struts.

Well put poshpepper

One quick note: the trd "exhaust" is really just a muffler. Pick up a catback system if you can, although you'll still only gain a few hp.

Thanks for the input guys.
As far as i can tell the TRD catback exhaust will increase hp by about 3 or 4 and looks pretty cool and sounds nice to, so I think that is on my upgrade list. Next would be the TRD RSB I think. What would be the best option for increasing break performance?

I have about $700 to spend on parts, do you guys think these are good first upgrades or should I be concentrating somewhere else? My biggest issues with the Solara is its lack of full power breaks and relatively weak turning radius, so any advice on how to improve those two things would be appreciated.

I am not sure on the condition of your brakes because it seems your car was not driven much based on mileage. So they may get better as time goes on. If you want to upgrade get some nice brembo blank rotors and some nice pads like EBC green stuff. I personally like my combo of duralast blank rotors and Bendex Ceramic pads.

Nice low mileage car!
I would go for the struts and springs ~ $330+160

If you dont know how to install them, find a friend who might know a few things, or read up on it and try it yourself, i did mine myself with no prior knowledge.

Where are you located?
Someone might be able to lend a hand...
