Weighted Shift Knob

I saw that this topic has been briefly discussed before, but I was hoping to get some input from those of you who have weighted shift knobs, primarily those with a TWM short shifter. I am very happy with my TWM short shifter, but I lost some shifting leverage from the reduction in height. I was wondering if any of you had success with a weighted shift knob, and if you'd recommend getting one. Thanks in advance.

Just work out a some and shifting shoudl be easy. But seriously I have a TRD short shifter with TRD know non weighted and have no problems so make sure the TWN is not rubbing on anything or something weird like that.

I have the TWM short shifter too. It does require more force to move the stick because the pivot point is relocated. I'm not sure if the weighted knob would help or not, but thats what thier web page advertises.

The trd requires more force for the same reason but nothing excessive. If he is haveing problems it might be a linkage that needs lubeing

The shifter was installed correctly, and works just fine. The amount of extra force required to shift is minimal, but I've heard a weighted shift knob makes it slightly more comfortable to shift. TRD short shifters should not have this problem b/c they are not actually shorter in height, just re-designed to reduce throw. They are correct. More weight means more force of throw. The only problem with this is that the weight can only apply to stock clutch with stock height in some picky cars. 500 gram is not heavy enough to create a comfortable precise shift. For solaras even with our stock shift heights our clutch isn't light enough for a 500 gram shift knob to throw freely. It will feel the way you feel right now. For Honda it is allot easier since it is light so the 500 gram apply better but its still not enough. Now if it was a 20 lb shift knob on a pivot point then yes every shift will be precise as can be. Thats why you see race cars not even bothering to follow on heavier shift knobs. Its pointless although the theory is correct.

I have a greddy weighted shift knob.. but not on my solara but my xB... It makes it allot more smooth to shift.. I guess the weight helps the throw.. Easier in engage into gear when needed.

I also have the TRD Short shifter.. but not yet installed.. From what I have read on other forums.. the weight shift knob and short shifter combo helps a great deal and make's driving more enjoyable..

I've tried them. Don't see any difference at all. I've driven manuals for over 30 years and the only perk I ever got out of a shift knob was comfort from leather and ergonomics.
I prefer the vintage leather models e.g. '86 celica gts, ae86, etc.
