window issue

window issue

Postby woa_its_j3ff » Wed Feb 07, 2007 7:50 pm

Okay a while back my driver side window fell down when i was rolling it down (in the summer), and i took apart my door panel and realized the belt that runs on the pulley with the motor to make the window go up and down, had ridden OFF the pulley. so when i push the button u hear the motor working but the window wont move (obviously) so now i have the window ghetto rigged (you cant see it since it's in between the door panel) to stay up.
I have tried to putting the belt back onto the pulley or w/e but attempts have failed. So...

Do any of you guys know about how much it is to get this thing fixed?

Id ask you guys before taking it to the stealership or anywhere else.

sidenote -- > my passenger window's motor seems to be going out too.

just take apart your window and have a look for yourself. it's pretty straightforward...but it's a bitch to put back. you'll need an extra pair of hands.

i replaced my driver's side window motor in just under an hour with some help. worse comes to worse, just buy the part from the dealer and DIY.

I would suggest a DIY...once you remove the door panel, you will see that it really is not that tough to replace.

Check ebay, they have regulators and motors for sale all the time. Just replace both regulators at once and be done with it. Good luck.

what is the regulator, what does it include?
cuz i thought my issue is jsut simply putting the belt thing back onto the pulley (another thing I'm not sure how to do)

i made a small tutorial a couple days ago about the window regualtor/motor...........

are you saying thatthe metal string fell off the plastic pullys?

If so then just unbolt the pully place the string back and bolt it back up

the regualtor is the wire, the long metal guide and the blastic thing that the motor is screwd into....you should have to replace the regulator inless sometihng is really broken i.e. the plastic is cracked or the wire snaped

oh thanks man. everything works fine nothing is broken as far as i know when i took the door apart. just the wire fell off the pulley. i tried putting it back on but it's damn hard, couldnt move that pulley for some reason...

so im guessing i dont need to replace anything (just judging by from what i read)
